Would absolutely love all of these to happen. Some great fights. A few I think are realistic e.g. Williams/Andrade, Gorman/Allen. But can’t help but feel this is a publicity stunt from Warren. Surely he knows Whyte/DDD and Joyce/Chisora are unrealistic seeing as Whyte is fighting Povetkin, DDD fighting Joyce and Chisora fighting Usyk? That’s before they even settle who’s platform those fights will feature on.
Some great fights but it really does come across as a desperate man needing to get something done ASAP to keep his business alive.
But you need a mix of big names and upcoming talent. You can’t go to the TV networks and say ‘give me five years and I’ll have a load of prospects coming through’ when you’re delivering 3,000 viewers with what you currently have to offer. Frank launched his massive ‘new era’ for boxing a few years back on BT with a press conference featuring loads of his fighters. What’s happened? Warrington has left. Hughie has left. Liam Smith has left. Saunders has left. Adams has retired. Fury has partly left and now fights in America. Flanagan has vanished and nobody has noticed. He’s got Dubois and not much else. Frank might want to hang around but his paymasters may just ask what he’s going to deliver and not accept that boxing moves in cycles and that’s why at the minute he’s delivering so little. They might just pull the plug.
Are you sure? Frank has Tyson Fury which gives them a potential 50% stake in the biggest British fight of all time and first refusal on Tyson PPV's. BT must be delighted. He also has Carl Frampton and Jack Catteral who are both ready for world title shots, Liam Williams who will be mixing it at world level very soon, Archie Sharp who is right on the brink of becoming a star with a decent following, the Dubois v Joyce fight, Anthony Yarde who I expect to be getting back in the world mix, he has also signed Sam Bowen, Tommy Fury, James Metcalf, Sunny Edwards, Nathan Gorman and loads more great young prospects so there is a lot to look forward to on BT under Warren.
Sounds like a press release that Frank himself would read, mutter something under his breath, look out the window and get a bit misty eyed remembering the good old days and how bad things have got. Fury's with Arum, Frampton's career will be done with very soon, Catterall is the sort of guy nobody has ever heard of (probably because since he beat Davies nearly two years ago he's had a fight out in Dubai and a nothing undercard fight against some 10-17 nobody), Yarde fights against taxi drivers, Gorman's fat and has seemingly given up after Dubois beat him up - nothing scheduled in more than a year and even Frank's dream fight for him is against human punchbag and mental-illness candidate Dave Allen. Tommy Fury? Three fights in more than a year and a half against lads with a 13-154-5 record? Dear me. As has been said many times, traffic between Hearn and Warren for a long time has been almost exclusively one-way. No reason to suggest that will change any time soon.
You love to push this rhetoric as if it somehow devalues Frank. Let me clarify things for you, Frank is Tyson's promoter and he signed a co-promotional contract with Bob Arum and Top Rank. This allows Arum to handle his affairs in the USA while Frank takes care of the UK side of the business. As you know, without an experienced hand things can go badly wrong in America if you do not know what you are doing.
Yes technically Warren is still a promoter in some capacity, but let’s be real, he doesn’t choose where and who Fury fights, Arum and MTK do.
