If I remember rightly there were concerns for Allen’s health at the time. The 100,000 is interesting where did you find that out? Granted it would’ve been a big pay day for Allen if true.
younger than fwank back when he gave it all of the above lol ah bless you missibg out on good uk fights lol welcome to boxing where your 0 cant go lol double standards aplenty
As brilliant as this would be it's rather coincidental that Frank is coming out with this after Sky's supposed viewing figures after the weekend and how they blow BT's out of the water...
Just saying that Hearns didn't care about Allen's health when he put him in against Ortiz on short notice for 8000 pounds. Allen got brain damage in that fight I remember him describing his symptoms for weeks after the fight.
Honest question which nobody seems to be going near. Why over the last decade or so has traffic been almost exclusively either away from Frank Warren or not signing with Warren in the first place? Even the most ardent fan of Frank cannot have noticed this trend. Just wondering why people think it's happening.
You’re right Allen got underpaid for that fight, but unfortunately miss matches like that happen all the time in boxing. And in fairness Allen was fresher in that fight than the was during the DDD negotiations . You know for a fact he suffered brain damage? I didn’t know you were a neurologist
10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% PR stunt from Frank and 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% if everything was going rosey in the Queensberry hub then he would not be offering an olive branch....he can smell the ££££’s over at Matchroom and he can’t get near them even with BT behind him. Maybe he has a bigger garden than Eddie and wondering why BT didn’t pay to use his??? To be fair to Frank though if it was genuine it all makes complete sense but can’t see who will put the shows on and who will organise things as they are chalk and cheese the way they work. Bring it on though cos we will be the ones who benefit 100%!
From what I have seen Dave Allen has a pretty decent life outside boxing now so his done pretty damn well out of matchroom.
No doubt. His has nothing good to say about matchroom and when he signed with BT his mission was to end matchroom like he did with Barry Hearn. If Warren was doing well he would never have proposed this.
If you break down it properly, Whyte vs Dubois - Whyte is in a bigger fight at the minute vs Povetkin, will sell a lot more PPV’s than Dubois Joyce Chisora vs Joyce - again see above but with Usyk. Williams vs Andrade will be mandated and happen anyway, probably on DAZN. Gorman vs Allen - Frank can make an offer to Allen as he’s rolling with Eddie. We found that out when he made him an offer to fight Dubois. Edwards Vs Yafai couldn’t be made by Hearn when they were both in his stable as there simply weren’t the money both expected for it. Fowler v Metcalf - I think Fowler beats him, easily for one and for two. Again they just don’t need this fight. They’ve got the Fitz rematch, Cheeseman, Eggington, Beefy, Brook etc who can be paired up with Fowler. The only realistic ones are Jenkins vs Benn, low level fight, relatively small names and purses. Shouldn’t be an issue crossing over. Yarde vs Buatsi is going to have to happen at some point. Purse bids, highest bidder takes the fight. Joshua V Fury is the only one realistically that is going to need the cross promotion/broadcasting PPV.
I love frank he's tougher than a cockroach but the reality is he is being out-performed by Edward Hearn.he just hasn't adjusted to the times and he's to stubborn to ever change tbh..as for the Queensbury v matchroom talk it's pie in the sky stuff.
Speaking of which, didn't Frank campaign to allow promoters to hold fights on the same nights as others when he was top dog? Then when he put Frampton Warrington on BT PPV and Hearn did the same with Whyte Chisora II he absolutely flipped his wig?
It’s actually a little sad to see this desperation move to try and stay relevant and get some of that Matchroom shine. I’ve lost count of the amount of promotions that have publicly pushed for joint events with the UFC to try and elevate themselves. Never once has the UFC tried to do the same. It’s always those that are struggling that make these moves. I bet Hearn is pissing himself.
