After Eggington's performance against Cheeseman on Saturday night, how would Eggington fare against either Fowler or Fitzgerald if either fight was made?

Stopped by brutal knockout by both.

That said, no one knows what headspace Fitz is in with a crown court date looming over his head.

The Egg got beaten to within an inch of his life by non-puncher domestic level Ted Cheeseman.

Those 2 guys would stop him early.

For the love of God, please leave Eggington alone. He’s only 26 and he has taken way too many beatings already.

Eggington has achieved more than most, had his run, had his excitement, been round the block more than once.

For his sake and that of the sport, please retire.

I think Fowler would stop Eggington early , it’s a tough one for Eggington he needs to make a living but he can’t be in to many more of them sorts of fights he could do himself some serious damage, he’s still a young man

Wow theres some haters/trolls in this thread

Eggington has been a great servant to british boxing in recent years. Always in exciting fights , hes a warrior. And hes only 26. Give the guy his credit.

I had him winning against Cheeseman as did plenty of others so I've no idea why people are talking **** in this thread. It was a very good competitive fight.

Judging by how poor Fowler has looked as a pro so far. I think Eggington would beat him.

I don’t think either of them are levels above Eggington at the moment, based on the fights we’ve seen so far they all seem to be around the same level.

Eggington does take a lot of shots, which is worrying given his age but he’s good enough to compete with these guys. He’s a decent fighter.

Eggington should fight a non puncher in his next fight, someone like Kieron Conway would make more sense imo.

Completely baffled how anyone could have Sam winning the fight. He definitely lost the first 5 rounds. You’d have to have had him winning the last 7 in succession for him to win and that didn’t happen. You could give him 4 rounds....5 being generous, 6 extremely generous, you’d have had to have had your eyes painted on to give him 7.

Fowler and Fitzgerald both beat him in entertaining fights.

    Yeah, I’d agree with that.

I don’t think eggington won, gave away too many of the early rounds but had he fought the same way in the early rounds he’d have won fairly comfortably. Appreciate that’s a bit meaningless as part of that was down to his opponent.

Yeah, agree, I think the way Eggington came back into the fight was purely down to Cheeseman deciding to plant his feet and exchange shots rather than any adjustment from Sam. Cheeseman was dealing with Fitzgerald in the same way, using his footwork but ended up doing the same against him. I‘m not sure whether it’s because he hasn’t got the gas tank to maintain those tactics, or he hasn’t got the discipline to stick to those early tactics.

When he moves his feet and picks his shots he really shows that he’s actually a good boxer, just baffles me that he turns into a punchbag for the final six rounds.

I think it's probably a gas tank issue. Whilst Ted can box 12 rounds comfortably, he's not exactly boxing a sh!t level is he (despite many people on here talking about british title level like its something to be ashamed of.) If he was boxing someone who was perhaps area level, say Paul Upton who he beat, he can coast and box nicely on the outside, however with tough, top operators like Fitz / Egg, who are both good come forward fighters, it's not easy to keep them off for 12 rounds which is likely why he does have to stop boxing just so he doesn't waste all his energy moving only to get stopped after 10.

It's one of them that certainly can be improved, and I think the Eggington bout will do him wonders that he knows (after his tough last 3) he can win a 12 round war and he has got it in him to get over the finish line. A Conway rematch wouldn't be a bad shout next.

Agreed. I used to think Groves was similar in the way he boxed but would then plant his feet and get dragged into a unnecessary scrap...the fight with Martin Murray comes to mind with that one.
