Would it? Or would we just end up with a situation where we realistically have one major promoter and some doing much smaller shows at local level? There's only really one promoter in MMA at the very top level and I don't really see that as a weakness.

The funny thing Frank highlights is that the sticking point for every fight we all want to see is promotional rivalries getting in the way. I get that you can't sign everyone under the sun but we've seen Matchroom put on fights like Joshua Whyte and Whyte Chisora twice. We saw Frank do it albeit at a more junior level with Dubois and Gorman and now Dubois and Joyce. It would appear obvious to say the easiest way to arrange something like Whyte v Dubois would be if they had the same promoter.

Matchroom PR is really flapping at this and filling the pages with shite.

Do you want to address any of the points being made or just make posts like this?

Can only assume you haven't noticed the fact that Dubois, Joyce, Whyte and Chisora are all fighting other opponents? Do you even follow boxing very closely?

Get it and agree that it is definitely a tough time for promoters. You make a lot of valid points also.

However AJ vs Whyte was the first PPV fight for AJ and is a very very similar fight to that of Dubois vs Joyce at similar stages of their career. I believe AJ vs Whyte did 400k buys surely BT and Queensbury with their smaller reach could achieve a thrid of that when more people are likely to be home anyway. I just dont think the team at Queensbury promote in the right way and haven't freshened things up enough. Personally I would get somebody like David Haye on board to try and drive the press conferences etc.

They also dont have the stable that Hearn has to fill an undercard with names known to the casual. Therefore come up with something different. If you dont have the stable or they dont drive enough buys.

It would be interesting if Warren and BT did go from boxing though. If all of the top level fighters went over to Matchroom, would we see better cards and all the top guys fight eachother?

Genuine question here, just looking for an answer because I can’t seem to find one.

How would this card benefit Hearn/Matchroom/Sky? There’s only one (set of) winner(s)

It's all about the risk/reward factor . If they can make more money fighting cross promotions then they will, if they can't then they wont. My problem with the response is people just flapping around looking for any excuse they can why it shouldnt happen.

I'm a boxing fan and would love to see these fights. Simple really.

This 'but they have fights lined up' nonsense makes zero sense, like that's that only fights they will ever have ever again. Who said the fight HAVE to be next. Back end of next year seem far more plausible and these will all be separate events I would imagine, or atleast 3 or 4.

UK casual fans would get behind this if it's billed as EH v FW.

Anyway I liked Hearns response, he knows there is money there and as he said let's hope AJ v Fury is the catalyst for all this to happen.

Yarde v Buatsi is probably the one I want to see the most outside of AJ v Fury.

I think the most important thing on matchroom side is they are not in business to make sure it's rivals are doing well.

Any fights made are their to benefit matchroom rather than see Queensberry do well and that's how any business will operate.

First and foremost the question for Hearn and Sky sports would be 'how does this benefit us?'

I have doubts on Warren's motives as why go through twitter with this? Why not just contact matchroom direct? It's like he wants to try and paint a picture that Queensberry are trying to make inter promotional fights and it's matchroom who won't play ball.

Hopefully the end result will be some great fights made but I won't be surprised if they don't happen.

You miss the point. The undercards are still often names that the casual has heard of. Prograis Taylor is a great fight, but to do that on PPV you need to stick a few names on. They might not be great fights but everyone has heard of Chisora, stick him in with Price, Burns v Selby is two names and then someone like Okolie in a title fight plus a 'name' like Conor Benn and there's your card.

I feel that on forums like this there's a complete blind side to the fact that as good as they are, someone like Jack Catterall is unknown.

So why not say that? Why does Frank come out now and say 'let's make these fights in the years to come.'

How about a reasonable suggestion as to how they can happen? It's all well and good saying we'd all like these fights to happen; anyone can say that. But how?

If i was BT i would try get Haye and Hennessy to work together give them regular dates. Henessy matchmaking, arranging shows, contracts, fighter recruiting eg and Haye being the salesman. Very similar set up at Matchroom with Hearn and Frank Smith.

When does franks deal with BT run out ? Be interesting to see if he gets another deal , with the figures some are brandishing about it doesn’t look like it’s going to well right now , most casuals thought the garden shows was the first boxing we had since the lockdown.

Why not say that?? Jesus christ that is an idiotic comment. You seem quite smart usually. As you say they all have fights lined up so i guess he must have thought it was ridiculously obvious he didnt mean next for all of them.

How they happen? Thats where the business gets conducted that you or i are not privy to unfortunately. The fact both promoters are even thinking about it is a plus. Now untwist those knickers and look forward to the fireworks on friday.
