When I went to shows you knew Paul Scrap Iron Ryan, PJ Gallagher or Shea Neary would be in the fights of the night if they were on the bill.

WTF is wrong with you people ?!? o_O

Nobody mentioned the King, the most exciting boxer in history:

    He's no. 1 by a country mile.

Then come boxers like Naseem Hamed, Gatti, Roy Jones, Dempsey, Ali (both when he acted like a clown and when he trash talked to get the crowd going), Holyfield (when he brawled), Hagler.

Hearns may have boxed on the odd occasion and sometimes he even failed to stop someone prone but for more than a decade and a half he dished out loads of excitement on an ATG level.

The KO's of Duran and Cuevas were shocking spectacles (Duran even more so) that will never dim let alone be forgotten. All the way up to SRL he was the most dangerous fighter in boxing and very likely the best P4P puncher. During his time at 147 it was regularly accepted he was the hardest punching welter ever seen ahead of SRR and Cuevas.

Some fragility set in as he hit middleweight particularly post Hagler and who could forget that fight? One of the rare occasions when a superfight with huge expectations not only matches them but exceeds them.

The potential fragility only added to the excitement as he went to war with guys like Roldan in a too and fro fight in which he suddenly left Roldan prone.

He pole axed contenders and champions all the way from 147 to 175 and axed a couple of guys on the fringe at 190 for good measure.

An ATG level talent and top 10 P4P puncher in history with average durability, great speed and a penchant to brawl. He also took on all comers and lusted after rematches with anyone that bested him. Even after the debilitating loss to Hagler he was straight back on the horse KO'ing one of the top contenders in the division so he could get right back in there with Hagler.

A guy like Pryor was exciting every time out but he burnt out faster and did not have the level of opposition that a guy like Tommy did. It may have been coming his way but he crashed and burned unfortunately. Saad, Chacon and the loads of others were also in lots of wars on a consistent basis of course.

Very good shout, in particular Muniz, many years ago caught a glimpse of his war with The Shotgun Oscar Albarado, my oh my , did they go at it, and the smaller ( as he always seemed to be ) Muniz gave the bigger Albarado all the trouble he wanted.
