I thought this was a thread to say the price had gone back to 19.95 from 24.95 after all the talk of Eddie will stick all fights at that price point after Joshua v Ruiz. But it's never gonna go below that on sky anyway, they set the price not Hearn as far as I'm aware!?
I don't mind that they dress it up a little with fireworks, a lightshow, etc. Sports is entertainment after all. It's not a funeral. It's cool for the fighters as well. It makes them feel as though the're a part of something special. Otherwise, with no audience there it would just have the vibe of a sparring session. Last week "fightcamp" delivered with some competitive fights imo. Yesterday was not on that level, but Harper vs Jonas saved the day. As for Whyte vs Povetkin - that's a good fight. And as Taylor vs Persoon II is also on that card it's one to look forward too imo.
Taylor v Persoon should headline the card being a World Title Fight and get more money than Pudding Whyte and Pedvetkin. Two Heavyweight Puddings in a non title, non elite fight not worth 19p. People should know that the PPV Mugths are paying for all of this with the forthcoming PPV - Eh day keeps on giving as long as the PPV mugths keep on paying.
So the running order is: Whyte vs Povetkin for an interim title Katie Taylor vs a railway policewoman Martin 'What's that on your hardrive?' Bakole vs Sergey Kuzman Luther Clay vs Chris Congo What a bargain. I'm surprised they didn't go for the £75 (100 US dollars) that they charged in the states for Mayweathers super fights for this one.
Well then Eddie had better get Dave Allen on the blower asap. That's worth at least an extra £10 for the hilarious banter and social media likes he brings.
That ridiculous logic could be used when comparing any two cards. Sky sports rights fees would pay the purses of those cards. They won't pay what Whyte and Povetkin will be earning. Now whether you think they should be earning less is a different matter but the reality is broadcasters do not cover multi million pound purses in rights fees.
Well, they have got us by the balls, haven't they? We either pay, or we see nothing. Unless it's on buffering illegal streams full of virusses. But to be fair, there is no gate, so the money has to come from somewhere. But since I live in Belgium even PPV often is not even an option because of "not available in your region."
