I second that! Thanks for respecting Andy's talent; imo his best win is Nicholson while Witherspoon should be a close second (but idk, Tim was 40 by then).

Also: Olympic Bronze for his central European Poland & being the first from that country to really make waves in the pros.

I think that Andrew Golota will be best remembered for his fight with Riddick Bowe, the low blows that he hit Bowe with. Andrew will also be best remembered as a much feared heavyweight at that time.

No he didn’t — because those guys (Holy and Lennox) were mentally tough and resilient.

They tell us all the time that boxing is 90 percent mental ... Golota was 100 percent mental, haha.

Seriously, he had physical tools but he folded like a pup tent when the going got tough. He was creative in how he did it, taking the ‘I’ll make them DQ me’ coward’s way out but he absolutely did not have the tools between the ears to be mentioned with those greats.

While I mostly agree, it was really Bowe's team that caused the riot.

He will be remembered for going piñata on Bowe's balls.

I feel Golota will be most remembered as the guy who made a very old Tyson look good.

It may be ....just playing devil"s advocate here ...he suffered a backlash the last decade lf his career due to being a "great white hope" and falling short in such bizarre circumstances.

Little in his career...has any rhyme or reason...he gives Bowe two for all intemt career ending beatings while standing up to everything...than he folds like an accordion vs lewis......he floors the hottest unbeaten contender in the divisiin michael grant twice is on his way to a win than quits inexplicably in the tenth....and so it goes on....and on....theres certainly never been any1 like him.....hes almist impossible to discuss in forum fantasy matchups...but regardless of all that his achievements are considerable

I see what you mean...however golota did show mental toughness in many fights...but as you say the quitting happened in many many fights and it came in all flavours.....(fold vs lewis during some kind of panic attack....have bowe on the verge of defeat twice, grant too but apparently decide to get dq"d when the finish didnt come...quit against tyson having shown bravery to weather the storm....) ....

    LOL,

The Mental Midget QUIT against Bowe too.......why the F you think he kept going low and low and low? Because he could not get Bowe off him, Bowe kept coming and coming, fact, no lows blows and Bowe stops him or Golata quits, as a mattef of fact, he quit. because he could not take Bowes toughness and will to win.

Golata has not ONE win against a credible top notch opponent, not ONE.

The cream is that he folded like a house of cards against a shot stoned Tyson.......

I actually made the same point if you read my post..... though with respect Samhund i said it rather more politely..........still whatever golota"s motivation and i tend to agree he panicked at a still standing bowe coming on.......the beatings had a hell of an effect on the warrior bowe....he retired for 10 years when the previous year had been his best in boxing...wins over jorge luis gonzalez, herbie hide and evander and with the huge tyson and lewis payoffs guaranteed.....golota however he did it ....beat bowe into retirement...

Wisdom from the late Paul W. “Bear” Bryant, arguably the greatest college football coach of all time:

“The first time you quit, it’s hard. The second time is easier. The third time you don’t even have to think about it.”

I’ve seen this proven true in a lot of areas of life, not just athletics.

If Andrew Golota fought George Godfrey, I would bet money on a DQ!
