If loma pressured Chavez like meldrik Taylor in their first fight but in lomas style he might have a chance of lasting 8 9 rounds. But Chavez would probably end wareing him down stopping him 11th roundish
I don’t see Chavez stopping him, I certainly don’t see Loma stopping him. I think this is a very close fight but see JCC winning a close decision. Loma is a skilled enough and defensively slick operator he should be able to navigate the pressure and body work of Chavez, while presenting Chavez with angles and enough movement to make him work for the win. Better fight in my mind than others might see.
Loma is the most skilled offensive pressure fighter i have seen that said Chavez has big advantage in styles in this fight. Chavez late stoppage.
Chavez beats him, but Loma would be more competitive at 130 than he would be at 135. 135 was Chavez's best weight, and Loma has looked underwhelming at lightweight.
The man in my avatar would greatly beg to differ on that statement. Don't be fooled by the flash, Duran was more skilled than Loma.
Chavez wins, I have little doubt of that. The way to beat Loma appears to be pressure fighting, which is obviously Chavez's forte. I can see Loma trying to come forward, but being pushed back and having his body worked. Chavez has a really underrated ring IQ too, he can switch things up to help cope with Loma's nuances. Vs Ramirez he changed from his traditional pressure fighting, to a boxer-puncher utilising his right plenty. I have no doubt he could change things up to apply smart pressure with that right. It's much easier to cut off the ring and use a lead right vs southpaws. Loma's game though. He'd give as good as he got. In fact, with those fast hands, great skills and matrix 'abilities', it'd probably be one of most beautiful wars ever. But is a war. And I pick the guy with a better chin in those. And I tend to mostly pick the guy with a style advantage. Both belong to JCC.
The problem for Loma is that he's not an especially physically strong guy. Whitaker was extremely physically strong, and could push Chavez off of him. Loma wouldn't be able to do that.
