Would it be a bigger upset than Tyson-Douglas? Or Joshua-Ruiz? To me, Teofimo just crossed over from prospect level with the Commey KO, but he does have a huge punch that can seriously hurt/drop Lomachenko.
It wouldn't be that monumental of an upset. Loma will likely win but nowhere near the Tyson-Douglas fight. Lopez is a champion and has youth on his side. He should be a sizable underdog, but winning is not completely out of the question.
I don't buy that this will be a cake walk, especially with the ring rust.. Lopez is young, hungry, athletic & has skills too.. he's probably only year away from 140 too , it's a dangerous fight for sure but the ring IQ & gulf in experience is vast so you'd have to pick Loma , it's all about timing & Loma should still have enough left athletically to get the win but you never know in boxing.. props to Loma for putting legacy before money too though! It would be a big upset but considering the circumstances (Covid lay off) & Loma being 32 I don't think it would be a monumental one.
Yes, but Lomachenko is one of the most skilled boxers of all time. And as I said, Teofemale just barely exited prospect level.
Not even close. The bookies have Lomachenko as a 4-1 favorite. Tyson/Douglas was 40-1. Lopez is going to be a tough fight for Lomachenko. He's younger, bigger and stronger. He's also got good skills.
Top 3 only because the division is in shambles. And the gulf in skill and experience is too wide in Lomachenko's favor for it not to be gargantuan upset.
Lopez can easily stop Loma because Loma isn`t a natural lightweight and was dropped by Linares, but catching Loma will be far harder than catching AJ and Loma P4P is rated far higer than AJ was when he was stopped by the unfancied Ruiz.
I think it would be nearer the level of when Honeyghan stopped Curry than Tyson v Douglas except the odds on Honeyghan beating Curry before their match-up were far widder than the odds for the biggger Lopez stopping Loma who was already dropped by Linares.
Being hit how many times, he clearly out-pointed every opponent at lightweight and had an injured shoulder v Linares.
Are you kidding? Teo will not be a huge underdog here. Loma will be the favorite sure, but not anywhere near what you are talking about.
