Tyson showed against Ruddock that he could take a very nasty uppercut and keep coming, but Foreman was more multi-dimensional (seems strange to say this about Big George) than Ruddock was against Tyson.

To answer the TS, it's very hard to compare a LW to a HW. There's been plenty of HWs to have paralyzing one punch power, but fewer LWs. On the other hand, can't come to think of many LWs that I would put ahead of Duran in the power departement either. Arguello?

Witherspoon, and older Holmes could still beat most of them, Pinklon Thomas he was ok. He had a good jab, Bruno was strong. Bonecrusher could punch. There were decent matchups. They were big guys who had some skill... How is now so much better? Joshua, Fury and Wilder and then Ruiz maybe.

More two handed and a better jab, Ruddock just didn`t work enough in those bouts apart from the occasional left uppercut. George was throwing all kinds of shots at Joe and often worked the body too.

Is this about cup size or skill? Tim was good. He was not the Holmes or Tyson level fighter, but he was in the middle between that top level and guys like Thomas and Tubbs. I will say one thing I think he knocks out Gerry Cooney in 1985, when Gerry could still have been decent had he been active.

Yes I think Tim Witherspoon knocks out Gerry Cooney. I wouldn' think that is too hard to imagine. Tim had power and he was strong. The worst performance of his career when he was younger was the second Bonecrusher fight which was really confusing.

Foreman was immensely bigger and so much stronger. What would be your best examples of Tyson showing great strength?

I think that Mike Tyson did, he was taught to. Roberto Duran was a natural street fighter, his style had to be refined by legendary trainers like Ray Arcel and Freddie Brown. Mike was taught how to set up his punches by Cus D Amato and Kevin Rooney. Both were very intimidating inside of the ring early in their careers, Duran according to Joe Frazier had eyes like the late mass murderer Charles Manson, when he was in battle, like he was in the street, like someone was trying to steal his money. Mike looked very scary too, staring down his man, and unloading very hurtful bombs on his adversaries. Both wanted to inflict hurt, but Tyson was a heavyweight, a natural one, Duran had to grow into other weight classes, losing his punch.

No problem, Bruno manhandled him all over the ring.

    Lewis completely nullified him.

Ferguson came inside against Tyson when hurt - where he feels safest and Tyson does nothing.

Holyfield span him, tied him up effortlessly and rendered him helpless.

Tyson would allow himself to be tied up, do nothing in the clinch and wait for the referee to separate them. Hell sometimes, he'd iniatate the clinch... when he's winning the exchange!

I understand you're a Tyson fanboy, but let's not pretend he was some sort of God inside.

Well Duran at Lightweight hit probably harder. Duran broke the record for consecutive knockouts in title defenses with 10 straight. At that time the only fighters Duran wasn't knocking senseless were those that either didnt sign the contract or they ran for their life once the bell rang.

Some may look at the length or some of Duran's bouts to doubt his power. Don't Duran was just sadistic and he enjoyed inflicting pain. Im sure he tortured some of those guys longer than he needed to.

We could always check with that horse and ask his opinion. He may vote Tyson though to get even with Duran. I dont blame that horse. He was minding his own buisness when Duran pulled a dick move on him..

Yes. Ortiz and Secratariat both went all the way out from one.
