Klompton assured me that the Mildenberger fight was not in fact a robbery.I have only Box Rec's account which sides with Folley.

Folley would probably out box Williams for 4 5 rounds and get caught. Williams had to much power and folley didn't have the chin. I'd go for a 6th round ko for Williams

The Mildenberger fight was not a robbery against Folley and Folley did not drop him twice in that fight. In fact he didnt drop him at all. Folley did absolutely nothing in that fight. Mildenberger did all of the fighting. The only time Folley did anything aggressive was to foul Mildenberger with both headbutts and low blows. If anything Mildenberger was robbed, not Folley.

Williams would take this. Folley just didn't hit hard enough and was too small here to last.

When two fighters are paired together we must look to see if the men they beat compare to the proposed opponent. Cleveland does represent a bit of a nightmare for Zora. He is a tall, fast and explosive fighter who fights in bursts. Isn’t that clever a boxer, but unloads unexpectedly from range. Zora is a methodical, patient counter puncher. A thinking mans Joe Louis kind of fighter. Without the combinations or as much of the spite. Still, Zora has good hands and waits for openings and is the better all round fighter. Neither guy has the best of chins.

Williams needs to start fast, but if he isn’t getting the job done early it would be a painful night for Big Cat. There is a lot of evidence that Zora beat up on big guys like Mike Dejohn, Oscar Bonavena, George Chuvalo and Bob Cleroux. All of whom probably rate above Williams as fighters (two of them actually beat Williams) apart Dejohn who was as close to Williams equal as you could find.

The better fighters always tended to sense when Williams was about to open up. The ability to be fast and explosive has to count higher up the levels and all the evidence on the Big Cat is that the better guys he did manage to beat he was not ever able to knock them out. He won those types fights trying to do that without succeeding.

Ernie Terrell fought Williams and Folley back to back but I don’t buy that he could be best placed to pick the winner. Williams officially took Terrell to a closer fight than Zora did probably because he was a tall fast guy who jumped on him where as Foley, a smaller guy, being a more one paced could be outboxed from the kind of range that better suited Ermie. Yet Zora still almost knocked him out at one point. My own scoring of the Terrell v Williams fight favoured Terrell by the same margins as the judges voted Terrell over Foley. So the Terrell comparison in my eyes is more equal between Foley and Williams anyway. ...and they both drew with Machen as well.

I believe a prime Foley has the best chance of replicating the win he holds over Mike Dejohn. A tall explosive guy folley knocked out who, like Williams, was one pay grade lower than big explosive fighters that would beat Foley like George Foreman, Sonny Liston and Max Baer that Williams is incorrectly compared to.

I can’t find a fighter that Williams knocked out who compares at all to Zora Foley. And that is the only way I can see Williams beating Foley.

I don't like to blindly accept everything I read, even if it is boxrec, but what could you show/ tell me that would change my mind?

Don't be too hasty. What divisions do you prefer? What eras?

Why do you say that? Folley has a very impressive record and in his own right.

Oh, thnx. I was worried there a minute (lol). I try to post heavyweight threads about matchups that don't have obvious outcome (imo). I'm sure Richard meant well, and he's the nicest guy ever, but Liston-Foster is one of the most obvious I have ever heard, the verdict was unanimous. I am a little disgusted with my divisional limitations. I do like middleweights, welterweights, and light heavies a lot, and lightweights and featherweights too, but I've been getting educated on the smaller divisions of the 90s these days.
