It was a recipe for disaster with Barry as manager, one son the trainer and the other the promoter. I think there is also a dispute with Josh Taylor? Can see why Mcguigan is hacked off -- they have taken all of his boxers. They did do a good job with the management - right fights etc - but it will be interesting to see if they have been ripping off the boxers or if they just feel like that because 3 members of the same family are doing diff jobs.
Credit where it is due, the matchmaking by Cyclone for Frampton and particularly Josh Taylor was excellent. However there have been many rumours about there control of fighters and financial handling which does not paint the McGuigans in good light.
Eddie Hearns runs UK boxing at present with no real competition. Are people suggesting that foreign gangsters are muscling in and gradually taking control?
Anybody who has met Barry will tell you his integrity is something you can feel. It seems a shame that the sport is seemingly too drenched in self interest to listen to and work with him.
Barry is a great guy. I can't agree with all the "Barry bashing" that has crept into the media in recent years. I really don't understand why.
I think I’m probably the worst for it tbf. I forget the fight he was commentating on it was years ago, but he was commentating with Jon thaxton, and I seen a bit of a bully in him and was rubbishing what thaxton was saying. I’ve picked up on it a few times since, he can get excited if someone doesn’t agree, nothing to the point I despise him, I just find he can be a bit awkward. I’d say in business, if you fall out with him or disagree, you’ve got problems. The last few years he seems to have far to many court cases for what I’ve said to be not to far from the truth.
