    You talking to me?

I don’t like either of them. Two drug cheats. A career-ending (for both) double knockout would have been the best result.

I just didn’t understand a post about a boxer not touching gloves between rounds. Never heard of that one. Before the first bell, before the last round. That’s it.

They ain’t playing patty-cake in there.

Next you’ll be whining because a fighter didn’t send an opponent a Christmas card.

Whyte had started to resemble Adilson Rodriguez some time ago...at 250/260 he is flabby and slow.I always felt he was just a more learned adaptable chisora. This is a bad bad loss.He has been hyped to the hills by Matchroom based on his entertaining abrasiveness .He isnt in the class of the big 3 or now it seems even an Ortiz or Ruiz jnr.The lies and gas lighting by Matchroom that Whyte is a viable foe for the big 3 has been exposed.

    It’s not nonsense though.

What is there really left to achieve? He’s filthy rich. He will not lay a glove near Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua will knock him in to next week (again). He’s not winning a world title, he doesn’t need the money, sometimes it’s just best to walk away with your full health intact and your big bag of PPV loot. What do you want him to stick round for? To become a journeyman/gatekeeper and continue to get 7 bells knocked out of him?

A devastating loss for Whyte but major kudos to Povetkin for pulling out possibly the punch of the year to date.

Talking to a lad at work (Friday) about the fight, he wanted a friendly bet (£5) giving me the pick and I couldn't split either fighter making good cases for both fighters, saying that I had a funny feeling that there might just be a sting in the tail so I declined. He felt the same way.

Tonight, we all witnessed that sting.

    That's Boxing for you!

Congratulations to Povetkin and his team. Commiserations to Whyte and his team.

It would be the ultimate troll move by Dillian to retire now.

Imagine for a second he got his WBC shot straight away i.e. after he fought Helenius. That means before he fought Browne, Rivas, Chisora, Parker.. the fights that made him a multi-millionaire.

It's incredibly likely Wilder would have starched him in 2018, and left him looking second rate. Even Hearn wouldn't have been able to turn him into a PPV headliner at that point.

His fate still looks like being smashed to pieces by the WBC champion, albeit a different one. But I just think there'd be something poetic, and hilarious, about Whyte looking at the path he's taken, looking at his bank balance, shrugging his shoulders and saying thanks for all the cash Eddie - I'm off.

It’s easy to be wise after the event and whilst the result was against the odds let’s be realistic Povetkin is way past his best but in terms of boxing skill he has much better skill than Whyte ! The finishing shot from Povetkin was top class and any boxer would be proud to have executed it. Whyte maybe able to win the rematch but will not be beating the current champions and the majority of top contenders.

You are saying a guy should retire because he got beat ? This is the British mentality to boxers

if they get beat they should retire? Then moan If they don’t take difficult fights.

Whyte should go away realise how open he can be and come back better boxer , he isn’t taking punishment in his fights, he got caught with a spectacular uppercut vs a dangerous elite fighter.

He is Miles away from being a journeyman and gatekeeper , if he ever gets to that stage then he should retire.

Look at Kevin Johnson you could argue he should have retired years ago , took many a beating last night he got one of his career best wins .

This whole defeat means they should retire mentality is madness

I’m saying he’s had a good career. He’s earned lots of money, people with double and treble the ability he’s got have earned less. He’s a heavyweight boxer and you don’t want to be taking too many of them blows. What has he got to fight on for? The likes of Price and Allen need to, they haven’t made (tens of) millions. Whyte doesn’t. It’s all down hill for him from here trust me. That AJ rematch has gone, his WBC title shot has gone.

Johnson is hardly a great example. OK he’s got a good win, whats he going to do with it? Is that propelling him to a world title?

Joshua said last night he would give Whyte a rematch

It would be a shame if every heavyweight boxer was to retire because they got a defeat , surely as a sportsman you should want to come back better ?

Only used Johnson as example as he was also fighting last night , Chisora been told to retire , I have even seen Hughie Fury been told to retire on here after a defeat ! AJ got told he should retire ?!

Let’s see if Whyte can come back and learn from his mistakes before telling a man with still a lot to offer the sport that he should retire after 1 defeat.

It is a British thing....when Bruno lost to Bonecrusher....the commentator said " the bruno story is virtually over".

And many times youd hear about a domestoc champ or well known fighter " if he loses theres no where left for him to go"....

In reality Eddie Hearn has shpwn tremendous respect to fighters eg a David Price...by showing theres always a place for them to go....Pricey was Pricey vs that low level southern area bum who bit him...or against povetkin....id still pay to see alan minter and tony sibson fight!

Povetkins repeated left hooks to the body literally set up the uppercut. He ducked low and Whyte was expecting the body shot then lights out.

Perfect trap. Too smart and sound for Whyte. Rematch will be no different.

The rhetoric this week of Dillian Whyte being in the shape of his life was embarrassing. He literally waddled into the Matchroom HQ dressing room last night. He is still a good 30lbs overweight with his excess back fat and saggy norks. I know it’s not a bodybuilding competition but Whyte must have a higher BMI than anyone in the top 10 excluding Ruiz Jnr.
