Povetkin is on his last legs and very vulnerable. If Hunter wanted to make a statement that he'd KO Joshua, he should be KOing Povetkin first.

If you can't KO Povetkin, you're probably not KOing AJ.

He went toe to toe with Povetkin, something nobody has ever done, not Wlad... not AJ... nobody. Even Whyte was fighting more passively than he usually does vs Povetkin. Povetkin has a very good chin, he got knocked out vs AJ because he knew he couldnt win a decision and used up all his energy in the early rounds with AJ running for his life for the first 4.

Wlad didn't KO Povetkin and he put AJ on his arse when he was 41 yrs old.

Well AJ knocked him out in 7 so clearly he did trade. Pudding Whyte had him down twice inside 4 rounds. Povetkin looked poor against Hunter and he still didn't really hurt him in 12 rounds. Hunter may not have been hurt by a 40 year old Povetkin, but Hunter couldn't hurt him. Power stays but durability goes and Hunter looks weak

Povetkin is said to be durable, but he's really not, or at least not anymore. Wlad had him down 4 times, Joshua dropped and stopped him, Price knocked him down, and Whyte had him down twice.

The Bounty Hunter already harvested Fat Andy's soul in the amateurs. And he didn't just beat him he totally outclassed him.

Only one of those KDs in the Wlad fight were legit IMO, the rest were 240lb + man shoves

It took AJ about 8 or 9 big shots in quick succession to put Sasha on his ass and that was a Sasha who'd been hurt good by the first right hand

He was knocked into the ropes but not actually down against Price and I think the reason he was sent reeling backwards was because he was loading up on a big shot of his own as he got caught with the left hook and he was off balance

Whyte's a huge puncher and was much heavier than him and Sasha is shot now

You’re really gonna bring up the amateurs? Shawn Porter beat Usyk so that just shows how irrelevant it is in matchups in the pro game.

Don’t recall it taking 9 shots to drop Povetkin. It was 5 with only 3 of them being flush hard hits. He did seem to go down easier against Whyte though.

Not really Usyk didn't take up boxing until he was 15 and if the information is correct I discovered during my research he'd only been boxing competitively for a year, whereas, conversely, Porter took up the sport when he was 4 y/0,started boxing competitively when he was 8, had over 100 fights by the time he was 14 and well over 200 by the time he fought Usyk.

Povetkin and AJ actually have 4 common opponents. David Price being the fourth. Granted it was only sparring but Price sparked out an AJ who hadn't been boxing long on his face.

I don't recall the exact number but it was between 7-9 IIRC and they were all hard hits, some of which massive. It only took AJ two to drop Ruiz on his ass and that was a prime near 270lb Ruiz not a considerably past prime 39 y/o 222lb Ruiz like the Povetkin who fought the much heavier AJ was.

Usyk was 20 at the time and had been boxing 5 years. Still amazing how he was 165 despite probably being 6”3. Price dropped a novice AJ in sparring who probably weighed 15 stone and had only a dozen or so amateur fights.

Both 19 y/o and like I said Usyk didn't take up the sport until he was 15, meaning that was the first time he stepped foot in a gym and the earliest results I could find from his amateur days are from 2005 ie. a year before he fought Porter. He might possibly have been boxing a bit longer but either way Porter took up the sport aged 4 and had been boxing competitively since he was 8 and had well over 200 fights.

Yes he obviously filled out a lot and improved immeasurably after fighting Porter. He moved up from 75 kg to 81 kg five months later. AJ obviously improved a lot after getting KO'd by Price in the gym too.

It was in 2007 so he was likely 20 years old. https://imgur.com/a/wbY7NA4
