I can't believe they have put a rematch clause on Povetkin-Whyte match. It was not even a title match. Now the mandatory spot belongs to Povetkin. Give the man his title match. Whyte lost his chance.

Rematch clauses are ruining boxing. I would love to see Ruiz defending his titles against opponents other than Joshua. There would be interesting match-ups.

You ktfo a Matchroom fighter you need to do it all over, with you still on the thin end of the purse.

The funny thing is how ....
Joseph Parker lost to Whyte by very controversial circumstances, 12 full rounds, also had Whyte on verge of a KO at the final bell ..... is denied a rematch.
.. Oscar Rivas lost a close fight to Whyte, 12 full rounds, decked Whyte along the way, loads of controversy comes out after the fight about how Whyte failed a prefight PED test for steroids ...... is denied a rematch.

...... BUT Whyte, sparked out in the 5th round by Povetkin, one punch, no controversy whatsoever .... gets lined up for instant rematch.

I was bummed for Pov when I heard there was a rematch. Guy is 41 and I thought great, at least he'll get a cash out fight at the end. And then I thought oh well, at least he'll get the better split in the rematch but nope....the rematch seems out of line, but that's " A " side boxing these days I guess. All we can do now is move forward and find out what fights have rematch clauses before watching. There were all kinds of headlines before the fight saying how it's do or die for Dillian. Turns out that was a load of crap too.

You could replace "rule" with "ruin", and your statement would still be true.

Unreal. You have to KO this man twice to get your shot? I don't want to hear about how hard Whyte is being done if he's going to do it to other fighters.

He lost fair and square. No rematch needed.

Rematch clauses should be for Title-fights only, and controversial ones at that.

They can actually enforce a rematch with no title involved? What would happen if Povetkin simply said no?

What if Povetkin tells them to go **** theirselves? Whyte surely wouldn't get reinstated as #1 contender. Do they really have grounds to do **** all if Povetkin went elsewhere rematch clause or not?

I figure this is unlikely and he'll take the rematch, and that Povetkin fancies the Whyte payday over facing off against Fury, AJ or Wilder at this stage in his career anyway. Easy money.
