I like the thread, but Whyte was the one in there throwong punches and defending himself. If he elected to do what one of his coaches says, the blame still lands on him.
If you need to have a trainer shout out your every shot then you will never be world level. Motivate you, tell you to work harder, tell you to throw some shots yes but to shout out every shot shows there was no confidence in Dillian. He should fight his fight stay tight and go with his feelings.
It says more about whoever posed this question than it does about Whyteleafe/ coldwell/ whoever. if you believe anyone other than yourself, is responsible for absolutely everything which happens to you in your life, you’ll never achieve anything. Take personal responsibility for every aspect of your life, accept that everything which happens to you is a result of your own CHOICES. And you are literally unstoppable.
Mate this is boxing, if u ain't going to listen to your coach, what's the point in having one. The clue is in the name u know....coach! As in coaching someone, showing/telling them what to do.
fair point well made pal, although ultimately, once you step through the ropes you are on your own and 100% responsible for what happens. All the greats have said this in one way or another.
That's true but that doesn't mean Coldwell didn't fail in his job too. Whyte's to blame for getting KO'd and for (perhaps) hiring bad cornermen. Coldwell's to blame perhaps for being a bad cornerman.
& The other guy Xavier Miller deserves some criticism too perhaps. He was the head coach. He allowed Coldwell to take over his job. It all looked a bit shabby compared to Tibbs and Whyte. (still, Povetkin would have iced him whatever).
No one is suggesting Whyteleafe is a great (apart from Eddie Hearns and that aydam clown) maybe that’s part of what separates the greats from the rest? Taking that step of accepting complete responsibility for everything which happens to them. Fury and Mayweather two obvious examples which spring to mind.
On second thoughts, do all the greats have something else in common? they put their success or failure entirely in the hands of a higher power. Fury Wilder Mayweather Ward Hamed Ali all credit their greatness to something bigger than them.
