Persoon has turned. She now claims she won! She even has a score in mind. 96_94. She initially completely conceded that she has lost beyond question. Now she says she won. Obviously Katies punch is harder than we thought!!
in all seriousness, the faces of the two fighters tell the story. Like how did Persoons face get in such a mess? Her face looked like a piece of meat that had been put on a butchers block and beaten with a mallet. Katie's few bruises were largely the result of Persoons head and elbows, certainly not from clean punches landed. If Katie wasn't doing the damage, then who was? The ref? Was she being beaten up in her corner? Come on people!

Haha I personally don’t but perhaps might make my view of the fight a bit more informed.

It was a great fight and the result could have gone either way depending on whether you prefer Persoon's relentless aggression or Taylor's superior boxing skills.

Cracking fight and just wish it could have been 12 x 3 minute rounds.

    careful with those splinters Jurgen!!
Seriously, As always your input is valued and respected.
Remember "relentless" isn't the same as "effective", that's all I'd say...

    Absolutely.

Before the decision was announced, I was happy at viewing a great fight with a feeling that Taylor would get the nod on Eh Day's home turf, but would not be greatly surprised if either of the other two outcomes were announced.

Could not see a clear loser in that fight and both fighters come out of Eh Day's Fight Camp with reputations greatly enhanced.

I just watched it again sober without any distractions and I still have it for Persoon. Taylor didn’t land enough. And Persoon was landing plenty. You can’t be judging fights depending on someone’s face marking up. It just annoys me that result is just accepted without any controversy. Like Taylor has lost both fights there lbh. They could fight 100 times and that fight would look the same every time.

Just watched the fight again and I am giving Persoon the fight by 2 rounds although some rounds were very close.

When Macklin scored the fight a draw I am not far away from the truth.

Hope we get a trilogy fight - great action from both women.

Reckon matchroom do the same thing when one of their fighters are starting to struggle. Commentators go from showing their scorecards almost every round. When it looks like it might be starting to slip away or they cant justify the rounds for their fighter...they stop showing them to turn up near the end with a close scorecard...only needing the 12th to win it sort of situation.

That and try to bank early rounds...with the commentators. Great start regardless of whats happening. Bank the rounds easier to justify the scorecards later if it goes wrong.

In close fights...Quite a lot of one judge way off in the scoring favouring the matchroom fighter as well. Its like they say to loughlan give us the early rounds regardless...then he ends up with a bad card when the fighter does actually win the later rounds.

The other judge just giving it to the matchroom fighter by a point or two. Its enough to get the win....or even a draw to keep the belt.

After 12 rounds of cheer leading for their fighter....even if they take a beating its easy for them to talk it into being a could have went any way fight and one judge just got it wide. Thats all.

Povetkin had the right idea...go for the knockout.

I genuinely fell Katie won clearly and widely. While I fully respect the views of knowledgeable fans, I can't understand how they could score it to Persoon. I really don't.

I scored it by one point to persoon. Katie the better cleaner work but wasn't enough of it all the time and persoon was often able to impose her fight on Taylor. Scoring it round by round how it is scored (not who I remember landing the cleaner shots etc) I scored it one point to persoon. But a lot of them were very close imo so couldn't argue with a draw or a point or so to Taylor. Great fight from both women

Also was talking with a mate, how would a fight between both go over 12x3min rnds? Initial thoughts were that it would suit persoon more, or rather it'd be harder for Katie to keep persoon at bay for an extra minute every rnd. But could also make case that 3min rnds would be better for a boxer like Taylor to settle into a rythum not have to rush things as much etc. Would be good to see at this distance

I know, I'm amazed. It's like people have taken leave of their senses.. Really all Persoon had was her incredible toughness and engine. Wild swinging and flailing isn't great boxing, and doing lots and lots of it isn't particularly important or impressive in a BOXING match. Throwing lots of punches that miss doesn't overrule fewer punches that land. That is not dominant, sorry. All the clean punches were from Katie. Even her bodywork was excellent. Then there's the whole issue of defense. Katis defense was so much superior to Persoon they aren't even on the same planet. Her footwork was sublime, causing Persoon to stumble past her repeatedly like a drunk in a bar. And really she wasn't physically overwhelmed either. That's a myth. Katie actually stood her ground quite well in this fight, resisted bring pushed around, and though smaller than Persoon she seemed a lot stronger in this fight than the first one, when admittedly Persoon did swamp her at times for sure.
Really I don't know why I even have to explain this to people. It's a self evident fact, right there for all to see. As I've said, It's like people have taken leave of their senses.
