    This guy was value for money, weak chin but a huge right hand.. somehow managed to break Derrick Jeffersons ankle with it LOL.. KOd Vitali in the amateurs & Rahman twice in the pros.. fairly basic technically & not the most athletic fighter but worth a watch some of his fights.. was beating Tua handily before he was stopped too.

    2:42.. I am dying :lol::

    He did NOT KO Vitali. Absolute fraudulent claim.

    He was pulled out by his own corner because he had a right hand injury that he'd picked up in a kick boxing tourney in 91, no KO. WIki is fos.

    Maskaev should be given praise for attacking from the necessary angle he needed to force glass body Vitali to fire the injured weapon that brought about the stoppage. Maskaev knocked Vitali Klitschko out of the tournament in 2. :number_one:

    ^^ ...actually you can both STFU with any definitive claims, as both sides remain adamant their version of events is the correct one. Absent proof it remains a case of he said/he said. Hopefully someday video emerges to give a clearer picture.

    He's certainly been in some entertaining scraps. Some of the ugliest technique I've ever seen for a fighter who was an elite am and a high level pro. Would be a fun fighter to have around in the current landscape.

    He actually was not a big puncher, as you will see if you watch several of his fights from beginning to end.

    He would gradually break his opponents down before stopping them. He had excellent technical skills, lots of perseverance and heart, and a vulnerable chin.

    In their first fight with Hasim Rahman, if you watch it from beginning to end, you'll see Rahman was gradually broken down and was ready to go well before he was knocked out of the ring. Someone who just watched the highlight KO would get the impression that Maskaev had big one-punch power.

    That fight made me more impressed with Jefferson to be honest. Fought a gutsy fight on one leg. Bad ass!

    I’ve surprisingly never seen that fight. Thanks for the upload.

    ps. I’ve broken my hand and ankle and I think the ankle definitely makes you more handicapped.

    Let's say there is absolutely no proof VK was ko'd by Maskaev and the one neutral source, an official at the bout, says it didn't happen.

    Here is Vitali on the Maskaev claims:

    “ I, both in amateurs and professional boxing career have never been knocked out nor even knocked down. Such statements can only be explained as cheap shots to gain few points for a fighter with a doubtful popularity. Eventually his conscience will catch up with him.”

    We can say now with a high amount of certainty that Vitali would have absolutely mopped the floor with Oleg in a pro ring.

    Do you mean "let's say..." to be a rhetorical exercise, or are you saying there is such an official at the bout on record as corroborating Vitali's side of the story? Because if the latter, whom, as that is news to me.

    The KO claim came from Maskaev's manager who was trying to big up a Maskaev fight with Vitali in 04, stoke up a beef or create publicity, which makes it immediately dubious to me. The official was acting as a judge but was also in Vitali's camp so maybe not 100% relaible, but if you believe Maskaev over Vits it's your choice.
