Joshua was not looking good in that fight. Even before Ruiz knocked him down, he was backing him up. That knockdown was more out of desperation than anything, you can tell he just wanted to get out of there. Joshua looked awful during that fight. It's his worst fight, hands down. Yeah, my brother keeps repeating that. 'He rocked Joshua' and so on. He slowed Joshua down a bit and the reason for that is that Joshua was really smug. Joshua was blasting him out in the first round. A shot slightly after the bell had Whyte lose his temper so bad that the entourage for both fighters had to come in and break them up. Joshua thought he was going to get him out in the second round. He was taunting him and sticking his tongue out and that's when he got caught. Whyte never rocked Joshua or had him seriously hurt. Just took the wind out of him a bit. I've never been impressed with Whyte as a fighter. Sky need to get Ian Darke back.
I heard that Joshua had minor surgery before the Ruiz fight. He definitely didn't look quite right, with his arms held low.
He will wait for the rematch to be confirmed, then come back then or if Whyte wins by KO he'll definitely be back.
Looks like when Povetkin knocked out Whyte he also knocked Aydamn down hard. Aydamn has done everything to drag it out, spat out his gum shield, rubbed his gloves on the canvas, claimed rabbit punch and low blow, claimed it was a slip, waited for the referee to count to nine before getting up. The referee has now asked "Can you continue? Do you want to go?". It is time for Aydamn to decide.
I was saying even up to last week Whyte had been robbing fans...Should have never been near a PPV ...The fight against AJ was meant to be a normal Sky Saturday fight night until the fake beef got turned up to 100 Whyte still looks like a novice on the pads and goes life and death with almost everyone he fights.....I think hes punching well above his ability ..can see more losses incoming
Definitely more losses coming. He doesn’t believe he needs to improve to beat Povetkin and that he simply got caught. I’m sure everyone else has picked up on this, too, but Whyte’s current style of fighting is to invite that pressure. He no longer goes looking for his opponent, he doesn’t really take the centre of the ring imo, he entices them in, even allowing them to have success in landing so he can counter punch with a short hook or uppercut. I think there is an awareness from his team of just how poor he is in coming forward and trying to open up his opponent. Look at Helenius and Wach for example, his footwork and defence is awful and he can’t finish them off. He prefers to be reactive instead of proactive. I was listening to Teddy Atlas and he talked about how Whyte doesn’t recognise the danger that he’s in, when an opponent as moved in on the inside like that. I personally think he does, but he’s just willing to flip a coin and back his own speed, timing and power. Look at his rematch with Chisora, he just lets him in. Chisora landed for fun, particularly to the body. Povetkin recognised that, kept hammering away at the body and had the pedigree to finally opened him up.
I watched that Atlas breakdown of the fight and he gave Whyte plenty of credit ...But Whyte is not even in the top 4 Heavyweights in ENGLAND ,the casuals once again been duped by Hearn ,he is amazing at what he does.. I have no idea how someone with 7 amateur fights becomes PPV so quickly with Whytes talent....Some fake beef with AJ then thats it ,a PPV star ,the most avoided man in boxing etc etc.. He has just always looked like a novice to me,although he has improved a hell of a lot ....
Daft Steve Bunce was squeeling before Whyte got banjoed that Whytes resume would stand up to any heavyweights in history and things like that......Mental for someone who has been writing about boxing for so long
Agree with all except the last paragraph. I genuinely think he just doesn’t recognise it. I think it was 3 times before the KO, that Povetkin slipped to the left, and tried to land that exact shot that stopped him, but he just doesn’t have the IQ to either a). Recognise it, or b). Do anything about it. I’m not so sure he actively welcomes it
What reputation? Every sensible person here knows @Aydamn doesn't have a reputation worth getting arsey about.
