i don't disagree with any of that. Povetkin certainly hits harder than Moore, Walcott, Charles, Layne or ancient Louis.

Still, i think Rocky outworks him. Close fight though, and i can see your argument for a draw.

i would generally rate the power of a 220 lb guy ahead of a 190 lb guy, unless the 190 lb guy was an exceptional puncher, like Rocky.

I am perfectly happy with the argument that Marciano hit harder than Povetkin. But Moore was a natural 175 lb and as great a ko artist as he was, i do not believe he carried his power up to heavy, i mean he couldn't ko Patterson who had a weak chin. Charles lost his great punch after a ring tragedy and i do not believe he hit as hard as Povetkin. Louis had 3 ko's in his last 8 fights before Marciano, clearly his punch was gone.

I am picking Rocky to win here but yes, as far as sheer power goes, Povetkin hits harder than Moore, Charles or old Louis.

I think that we must conclude, that Povetkin is one of the best heavyweights never to win the lineal title, and one of the greatest heavyweight contenders in history.

Having said that, I pick flavor of the decade!

Is Povetkin harder puncher than the 37 years old Joe Louis ? This is minimum questionable.

You said the following in a Liston-Marciano thread:

Please explain how Marciano would beat Liston AT ALL, let alone quicker than he would Povetkin.

Never mentioned Golota lol. Anyway Liston will come forward and Rocky will pulverise him, Liston was soft, more like the school yard bully than anything. Ali whooped him and he crumbled and he would not be able to withstand Rocky's relentless pressure. After getting knocked down once or twice Liston may even give up and intentionally stay down like he was known to do when hopelessly outmatched.

Sorry I know you have a big man crush on Liston and big cat and don't like to hear this stuff but Marciano is on another level to Liston, who is extremely over rated.

I meant Povetkin, have since edited my post.
Liston was "the school yard bully type". If that's the case, Williams would've won after staggering him, and breaking his nose. Valdez would've won after shutting his eye. Marty Marshall would've knocked him out after breaking his jaw, instead Liston went the better part of 8 rounds and fought valiantly to an SD that could've gone either way.
Wow I don't even know what to say to this. Liston only intentionally stayed on the floor ONCE against Ali, in a fight that was likely fixed. Please show me any other occasions where he did so or admit that the "like he was known to do" business is absolute bollocks.

I am a grown man and don't have any "big man crushes" on Liston, Williams, nor any other fighter. Joe Frazier is my favorite fighter yet I can concede that he would likely lose to a prime Liston, Foreman, Ali, Tyson (whom I absolutely despise) among others. You wouldn't know such objectivity if it bit you in the arse! Just a couple months ago you said Marciano would beat Liston, Foreman, AND Tyson and you have the audacity to say I "have a big man crush" You're a joke and nobody here takes you seriously.

You are an incredibly hostile poster. I look at threads from years gone by on here and they were much higher quality....you had a big hand in the decline of these forums with your azzer and wass1985 alts in tow just spewing garbage with low quality post after low quality post pretty much talking about nothing.

Looking at the fight with rose tinted spectacles on and honouring all HW champs you would say Marciano but in reality Povetkin probably starches him.

Povektin has hit the point of respect. He didn't get it from many in his prime.

The bald truth is he could beat a lot of lineal heavyweights champions, pre Liston and a few post-Liston. While Rocky certainly could punch, he took on average 9 rounds to win his title fights vs. men... every single one of them who were not as durable as Povetkin was.

I'd like to see Povetkin vs. Fury and would not write off Povetkin catching the big good and stopping him, even at age 40.

Povetkin UD. Povetkin has better footwork and foundamentals with quicker hands. I don't think Marciano can impose his will against Povetkin.

Top contender in a crappy era and amateur merit means nothing in pro boxing.
