Povetkin beat a better guy last week than Wilder has ever beaten.

Even if you don't agree, the Wilder-Fury fights are a completed thought.

Whyte is not better than Ortiz was.

What are Ortiz’s top 3 wins as a professional vs Whyte’s top 3 wins?

Whyte has beaten the better opposition

That does not make Whytw better, he is a ppv fighter so his fights generate more money for opponents. A shot Povetkin would not beat Ortiz.

Ortiz would have knocked Whyte out, I think that’s pretty clear now. Explains why Whyte didn’t fancy fighting him.

If he's beat the better opponents, which he has, then he's more proven, therefore "better" IMO. I always go by which opponents have they beat, before anything else, when rating a fighter. It's a more realistic guage, than hypotheticals, "eye-tests" and guesswork.

Exactly. Reason he never fancied Pulev fight too. He seen how Pulev played with Chisora.

i like most people dont judge it so symplistically. Using your theory Dave Price is far better than Dubios as has beat better opponents. Other factors need considered like promoter power, how you beat opponents, age of opponents eg

Well in that example, that's why Dubois can't be ranked highly yet, because he hasn't really beaten anybody yet. That will change once he beats a few decent opponents. Right now, he's just bags of potential. Opponents beaten still has to be the most important factor of a fighter's standing IMO. I think Dubois would beat David Price, of course. But beating good competition is how you prove how good you are.

Pulev received a lot of help from the ref that day.

Of course who you beat is a major factor, but your point that Whyte is better than Ortiz, is wrong in my opinion. As one is a cuban fighting in America, with little backing and little fanbase v a Sky ppv headliner with a big fanbase. Obviously Whyte generates more money to get better opponents. Thats a factor, like it was for Quigg and Frampton in comparison to Rigo. Look at Charlie Edwards, was a world champion on Sky ppv, do i believe he is better than Andrew Selby no, just afforded better opportunities at the right time.

I can only remember watching one world class fighter not getting out of second gear to best a British/Euro level guy in Chisora. That gap in quality was nothing to do with the ref.

The ref was awful. Pulev just grabbed and clinched Chisora constantly, even when he had to full extend his arms to do so at times. Not saying Chisora would have won but the ref made sure it wasn't happening.

Pulev beat him with the jab, Chisora never had the footwork to help get round it.

He is far better than Ortiz. Just look at their records.

You can believe in your heart that anybody is better than anybody, but the evidence from wins and losses is that Whyte is by far the better man.
