Guy went from a regional journeyman, to a cheating disgrace that held the title by way of illegal tactics, now to a competitive contender?

    :patsch

Just wont go away it seems. What a horrible division.

Legend. I had him beating both Chagaev and Valuev so he is 3rd(or 2nd?) best hw at the moment.

I've thought about this before, and his , ah hem...his "style" is suited for someone who can be around a while. Also, I think 20-30 years from now people will look at Ruiz's resume and think he's one of the best heavyweights from this era. It will be up to us "old-timers" to keep that out of the air the best we can.

I know we all hate Ruiz but give the guy credit..he fights anybody, he stays in shape and he has the ability to give anyone a tough fight.

Other than that though yeah he sucks.

I think being spanked by a third middleweight ought to eradicate his remaining ambitions. Pavlik, make yourself useful. :yep

Good point, Arriba. The sad thing is, you can't say that about a lot of heavyweights on the scene today.

Ruiz is not a fighter I like watching, but I'm not going to rip him for doing what I would do in the same situation if it meant making that kind of money. He's taking advantage of the system that is there.

Boring and he justifiably gets the heat he deserves, but there are so many other boring clutch and punch fighters out there and they dont get half the criticisms. Ruiz losing to Roy while being tentative then watching Royget KTFO by 2 light heavies just seals the deal for me.

Ruiz should have acted like a Heavy put his body on Jones bullied him smothered him and battered him sensless, instead he acted like Jones was George Foreman

glad to see some people sticking up for ruiz. he essentially has the same style as hopkins and people have nothing but praise for him yet seem to trash ruiz on a regular basis. i'm not saying i like ruiz or b-hop in the least bit though. i find both mind numbingly boring and despise their ability to make even an exciting fighter look like garbage, but i have to give credit to the fact that ugly as their styles are they seem to find a way to grind out decisions on a regular basis. in spite of that, here's hoping the quietman gets silenced in the division once and for all with another right hand :good
