He's no Amir khan but he's hardly slow for a super heavy, he puts punches together nicely when he needs to.

This. AJ is pretty average in the HW speed department. He's fast enough to land with good technique but he's not fast enough for his speed alone to cause guys problems. He's going to find guys like Usyk etc problematic because of their speed when he fights them.

Fury seems to have slowed down lately. He seemed quite fast for the Wlad fight but if you look at his fight vs Wilder, his punches look like they're going through treacle by comparison. Of course, he also seems much more powerful than he did, so there's a trade-off I guess.

Heavyweights dont have great handspeed in general. Hes got decent enough handspeed for his size, nowt amazing but its fast enough for his style. He has faster hands than Fury but slower than Wilder and Ruiz but then they all fight differently so speed can only be quantified by what they are aiming to do with it.

Joshua tends to be a short combination puncher, his speed is decent enough for what he does, its been fast enough to find and drop most of the people hes fought and thats all he needs it to be.

British fighters just tend to have faster hands in general than non-Brits

Super Joe and King Khan being two of the quickest

Joshua is quicker when he's not weight lifting, and bulking up over 245. He was blowing guys away at 17 stone, and even Ruiz struggled with his ultra light frame in the rematch. But I'm afraid he's gonna start weigth lifting again, and Pulev will pound the clumsy bodybuilder down into oblivion come December time. lol

I always felt AJ's speed was truly something when he threw short, crisp punches. Long range he is about as fast as he looks. As in he is muscular and thus probably a bit slow.
Like said above, the combo he dropped Ruiz with was quite something.

And Wilder aint that fast tbh. I still giggle remembering how he made Duhaupas look like Iron Mike.

For a HW - specially one of his size/dimensions - AJ has very impressive hand speed. He is noticeably quicker handed than Fury, sharper, more accurate, and a much bigger puncher. The guy is freakin 6'5 and weighs 245 lbs. FFS, very VERY few in history had AJ's speed and athleticism at his size and dimensions.

The only present-day HW's(ranked in the top 40-50) that have a clear speed/hand speed advantage over AJ are: Michael Hunter Jr., Deontay Wilder, Andy Ruiz Jr., and Oleksander Usyk. Of those guys, Wilder is the only one of them that is as tall/long as AJ or taller/longer but even he is at substantial bulk deficit compared to AJ.

Idiots can come on forums and vomit out whatever bull**** they want without tge need for any qualifications or credentials, and say what they spew with utmost conviction. It's up to the reader to identify the helmet-wearing and drooling posters who puke that garbage as opposed to the posters that know what they are talking about. AJ is a FREAK athlete, and just because he doesn't have as much hand speed as Wlad used to(but he is not far off at all) doesn't qualify as a valid reason for him not having very fast hands. What other SHW's - ever - had Wlad's hand speed? If there have been some, the total could be counted on less than 5 fingers I am sure.

For the record - AJ's hand speed is very impressive, it's his foot speed and overall mobility that are average or below. His hands can fly.

If AJ can't set himself he is useless. Which is the same for most of these heavyweights

    Fury is a level above.
