I never denied that Marciano was better, but that's not the point of this discussion. Rocky would never apply the same strategy that Schmeling did.
I agree, but he wouldn't fight agianst Louis the way Schmeling did. So pointing out Schmeling loss doesn't give us any picture about Rocky vs Louis.
I can't deny that and I would love to see that! Marciano was excellent fighter, one of the best ever at his weight!
Show me when Rocky fought on the back foot and waited for openings to counter his opponent, all while using his left hand to negate all offensive actions of his opponent. I'm waiting, just show me one fight when Rocky boxed so patiently and didn't pressure his opponent.
I did read wrong the part that i did quote. But Rocky would not need the style of Schmeling to beat Louis
But it's not. They both fought Louis. It's right there on film that Marciano didn't fight Louis like Schmeling did. Unless you think that Marciano would change his entire style to do what Schmeling did against a prime Louis.
With less power and more skill to find an oppening. Raw power is not everything and it's not like Max lacked power.
No, on the available film footage and ringside descriptions of their fights. Simply put Schmeling was a re-active fighter,Marciano a pro active one.
Less power, but better timing and accuracy. ps Schmeling could punch, Sharkey said he was the hardest short puncher he ever faced, and he met Dempsey,Louis,Wills,& Godfrey.
