If I had to choose, I'd give Joe Louis the highest chances. Tyson and Foreman are not out of question either. Maybe Sam Langford?

Definitely Tyson, Louis, Foreman, Liston and Lewis. Others probably could to, but I'd pick him to beat Dempsey, go the distance with Marci, Frazier, Prime Holy and sub-200lbs pressure fighters. Dumb, big sluggers like Tua, Lyle, Firpo, Shavers Baer &tc (@BitPlayerVesti no simple spelling, right? ;)) wouldn't stop him, and I have my doubts whether those guys actually stop him. The two sleeper picks that I think could do it are Ike and Ingo. Dunno why, I just get that vibe from them.

Wlad and Wilder definitely hit hard enough to, but I don't think Wlad is aggressive enough to do it, and I don't think Wilder is good enough to win.

I'd be surprised if Lennox Lewis couldn't, prime Foreman, prime Tyson. Got to give those guys a shot.

    Lets make this harder.

What Middles to LHWs could KO Toney? Bob Fitzsimmons?

Curtis Sheppard is another solid pick for a man who could KO Toney. Though whether he'd land efficiently is another question.

These kind of debates are precisely why I feel very comfortable in saying that Toney probably has the best P4P Chin ever.

Fitzsimmons not only could not stop toney but he would get schooled like an amateur himself

It's possible, but it's also possible that he'd be too powerful for Toney and he'd land harder punches throught the fight, winning a clear decision.
Fitzsimmons wasn't crude slugger, he knew how to box.

Honestly, I think the best chance would be at middleweight, if you stipulate a pre McCallum version of James Toney. He didn't have a full understanding of what he knew before the McCallum fight.

It doesn't work that way. Sam Peter was a crude slow slugger, Fitzsimmons was sharp boxer puncher who knew how to set up his punches. Raw power is very overrated by many boxing fans.

I not sure Fitz would be the guy to do but I agree 100% with your point. Raw power is not a bother to Toney as much pure speed and timing. That is why at the heavyweight I believe a sharp puncher like Louis would be way more deadly than a more powerful guy like Peter or Foreman.

Reggie and Roy Jones kind of proved this point in the fact that they were more quicker than powerful and they actually were able to hit JT cleanly.

This one. Except that I see Toney going the decision with Lewis for sure. Lennox would just sit back and pop the jab
