Joshua has proven his skills against world class opposition, Ortiz hasn’t. Joshua won Olympic gold, Ortiz wasn’t good enough to qualify for the Olympics.

Joshua of course, and I think he benefited from some very favourable decisions in the Olympics.

Ortiz really just has his counter left. That's like his only world class shot. Everything else is average for a supposed world class fighter. His jab's ok, but he mostly just paws it as a rangefinder or flicks it out while dancing around like a geriatric Larry Holmes. Doesn't really deploy it for anything else that I can see. His hook's ok as well, but nothing to write home about. His combination punching is almost non-existent.

Christian Hammer managed to make Ortiz look ordinary by keeping a high guard and punching back when Ortiz wasn't expecting it. That tells you all you need to know really.

What? Is this a joke? Ortiz does have/had some nice but specific skills, but he never had a broad range of them or melded them together. The skills gap between them is even greater than the age gap.

Though rhetorical, this is a much better question than the question. Everyone should switch to trying to answer this.

My guess would be" "OP is a raging Wilder fan."

Yeah Ortiz is the most overrated HW of the last 20 years. Fanboys called him the "boogeyman" of the HW division? That old geezer wouldn't qualify as a boogeyman in my little suburban neighborhood!!!

I'd like to have seen a prime Ortiz 20 years back.

AJ will be Fury’s toughest fight to date and he will have to go to hell and back to get the win. Could come down to who wants it more.

Hell and back is a walk in the park for Fury. Just a sauna day for him.

Just the heat at hell's entrance leaves AJ asking "Why do I feel like this"

Athletically joshuas better. But ortiz the more skilled man. He just doesnt have the athletism to match it.

Tactics age and matchmaking have beat ortiz. The cuban styles quality but its a flawed style it kind of relies on opponents throwing. Probably why they do so well at amatuer level. You cant really study them the same as at pro level with access to all the fights etc. The pro,s have worked out how to beat the style a little better. They struggle with guys that can fight on the move...but its a high skill level style regardless.

Look at the jennings fight...he mugged jennings in that fight. Jennings actually outpunched him in that fight by a good margin...but ortiz just knew how to make his punches count. Took two to land one but his one,s we,re the right ones. Jennings ended up taking a battering which is wierd considering he landed a good bit more

Joshuas skill level is pretty basic tbh. Fundamentally decent but in terms of skill hes pretty much a basic as they come. Just does the basics pretty well add to that hes a physical beast at a great age. Still think ortiz would give joshua trouble. Wilder a bad match up cause wilder actually has a pretty good judgement of distance. Better than joshuas anyway.
