I had the same idea only I thought the new cruiser limit should be 205 or 210.

    POST SCRIPT:
Just leave Tony Bellew alone to enjoy life with his family and his mates. You don't need him fixing all of boxing's problems. Just leave him alone.

At one point over 160# was HW. Not going to look it up but over 100 years they intro'd the LHW (and others) division to 175# that made up the classic eight divisions.

Then people finally realized that 185-190# fighters were to small to defeat quality larger HWs and created the CW division.
Yes, there were SHWs back in the day, but they tended to be clumsy oafs or slow compared to big HWs of recent (LL, Klits) to current (Fury, AJ) eras. The worlds populations is much bigger than 50 years ago and many more SHW men to choose from. Plus the Eastern block opened up ~30 years ago. Notice there's some good fighters - in all weight classes - coming from that part of the world?!

Keep CW as it is and create a Super CW to 225. Currently very few top HWs are below 220/25#. Isn't one of the main orgs thinking this way?

I don't agree with this because Cruisers that moved up to heavyweight to make big money will now have to blow up to 220+ to do it and it's going to hinder them.

Also, this means Wilder would have been a Super Cruiser in many of his fights.

    1. no i dont think Kell Brook is going to beat crawford because he is bigger but that doesnt contradict anything I said. Only because I say that weight is the most important factor in this sport, it doent mean that every bigger guy will win against any smaller guy he faces.
In basketball height is most important , the average nba player is listed 6‘6 yet there are tons of players that are 6 feet tall and still are better then other tall players. Are you 5 years old to not see the flaw in your argument?

    2. Valuev is the proof that weight and mass can overcome anything. The guy started boxing at age 21 had no real amateur career was horrible untalented, no high ring iq, no coordination and he didnt even punch very hard, yet he won a world title and only lost to relatively talented fighters like chagaev or haye who had been boxing since they were kids and he didnt even get beat that bad in those fights they were somewhat closer then people make them out to be.
Imagine if the guy had talent and started boxing at age 10.
In a sport like tennis or soccer it is impossible that some weird big russian dude comes around at age 21 and becomes on the top 5 athletes of the sport within a few years.

If you read my post prior you would know that i call half of professional boxers lazy fat asses without any proper asset on diet, so you can imagine what my take on jarrel miller is.
If i say weight, i dont mean simply fat that you can put on as much as you like, by that logic some 400lbs obese fat american aka. Erik Esh would be the best boxer to ever live on this planet. Weight to a certain degree always correlates with other factors such as height or mass, wilder and fury weight already much more then us, cause their limbs are simply longer then ours are, there skeletons are wider and so on.

Of course he suggested Wilder and Usyk for the new belt.

Hearn obviously had zero to do with this, nothing, WBO mandatory Usyk that's a problem for AJ and Wilder contracted to fight Fury and it gets a big puncher further away from AJ.. because if Wilder wins the Fury rematch that ruins everything for Hearn.

Remember this was ALL Bellews idea, nothing to do with Hearn, Matchroom, Sky, all Bellew.

When a fighter says this it holds more.weight than us fans suggest because they've lived and breathed it. His opinion should be taken into account as it ranks up there with new ideas. Also I rewatched wilder fury 2. It looked like a man fighting a kid. I agree with the poster that said call it hw and super hw instead.

Cruiser is already a manufactured weight class, adding a super category doesn't appeal to me nor would it appeal to the likes of Usyk coming up chasing the big money at hw.

Anyone with their eyes open to the amount of dehydration that is common for making weight in boxing and especially in UFC, knows that anyone who can get their weight down to 245 or less could make 220.

Hell, you could have the 2015 version of Tyson Fury vs current AJ at 220 without any unusual weight cutting. Shows what a nonsense the division is.

So you concede that skill can trump weight.

    Excellent.

I'm not saying you claimed the opposite. I'm saying you concede that skill can trump weight.

    Excellent.

Heavyweight and crusierweight don't have the depth to split them an create a new division. Under these weight classes you'd never get a Holyfield vs Bowe.

Yes, the WBO will create a new division and this somehow will take away Usyk´s mandatory status.
Uysk´s legal team would do a number on the WBO.
And even if there were a new division, you think Usyk would go after that instead of the actual heayweights?

..is this just another way for the WBC to create even more belts & get more fees.. shut up Tony , it works well as it is, if you feel you are too small to compete with the big boys then drain to cruiserweight it's that simple
