    This one is pretty easy.

    Povetkin is a two-handed counter-puncher.

Whyte is just a guy with a left hook.

I predicted Povetkin with the overhand right counter of the hook, and I am re-predicting it for the rematch. Different punch, same result.

Neither AJ, J-Park, Rivas, Chisora, Lucas B, Helenius, Wach etc. could lay Whyte out like shot near 41 y/o Sasha P did and that was the best Whyte ever Sasha iced too.

I was amused by Teddy Atlas this week. Interesting words from him. Basically, Whyte is missing experience that Povetkin had through his amateur career. But the interview is interesting in full length. You may turn down your sound a bit when Atlas starts yelling, haha.

    GET OUT OF THE TOWER!

Whyte landed a couple of good counters and then seemed to forget he was still facing an elite hw of the past 15 years. Novice mistake.

Whyte fought a good fight but he made a few keys mistakes which cost him the fight.

1 - Trading with Povetkin. First round Whyte met any offence from Povetkin with defence, shelling up or moving away and won the round behind his jab and by getting off first. But from the 2nd round on wards he started exchanging with Povetkin, responding to Povetkin's attacks, usually with left hooks to the body.

2 - Thinking he had Povetkin ready to go in the 5th. The 2 knockdowns were deceiving in that while he was dropped hard twice, I don't think Povetkin was hurt half as bad as most suspected. He was dropped hard by a hard right hand over his jab and left hook combo, but remember he got right back up and took it to Whyte, he didn't fight like a fighter who was badly hurt. Then he was caught square by an uppercut, but it was a flash knockdown. But that along with the earlier knockdown had Povetkin looking like he was on his last legs when in reality he was far from done.

3 - He got right hand happy. He didn't throw the right hand much prior to the 4th. But then he countered Povetkin's weak jab with a crunching right hand, left hook combo to start the 4th and from then on he was looking to land that punch again. When Povetkin jabbed, Whyte was usually looking for the right hand.

Mid way through the 4th he has Povetkin in the corner and looks to counter with the right hand again but is too far out and has to abort and so has to awkwardly dip to his left as a Povetkin left hook whistles past his ear in response. And even before that in the same round after the knockdown there's an exchange where Whyte throws a right hand and Povetkin responds with a left hook that lands on Whyte's shoulder. Povetkin I think knew Whyte would looking to land the right hand again and was looking to find ways to counter in response.

Start of the 5th what does Whyte do? He fires a right hand that Povetkin slips. Povetkin comes forward, feints the left hand inviting Whyte to throw the right hand again, which he of course does even though he's not in a good position to throw it with any power and boom Povetkin instead of throwing the left hook like he had twice before in the previous round, threw a left uppercut and the fight is over.

Whyte's always had a leaky defense and put down by other fighters. I said Povetkin would stop him, it was a step too far. Maybe he'll take his condition seriously and drop down to 240. But I doubt it.
