People heavily underrate Dempsey. In an actual fight, Dempsey would likely knock Greb unconscious. Come on, Greb never faced a puncher of that caliber.
No i mean, he tried very hard to get the fight with Dempsey. "When you gonna fight me, ya bum?" "..." Tells me much of what I need to know
Yes but I don't really consider Meehan and Rojas as very good and Meehan was a porker. The general point is he hasn't been in with any actual heavyweights of the modern weight class. Allot of things changes when you have someone who can knock you out with one punch, laugh at your punch walking through it, knock you off balance easily, lean on you and make you exhausted as a result of their weight on you. Not to mention not being able to get into boxing range easily.
Game, set and match McGrain. No coming back from that Johnny B. You must feel like you've been hit by one of your own right hands. Unless you're going to tell us that you had an ATG chin based on your boxercise classes.
Looking at the list of lineal champs, from Dempsey onwards I'd only make him a favourite against Leon Spinks. If one were to include the non-lineal champs then that list increases for sure but so too does the number of fighters who spark him.
I think he could beat Braddock and Briggs was mediocre enough that you could always give someone as good as Greb quite decent chances.
I wouldnt be surprised if Briggs stopped him,he wobbled Lewis , and I rate Greb no1 at middle and p4p.
It is probably reasonable to infer that he would have had a chance against the champions between Tunney and Louis. Loughran and Walker had some success against them, so why not?
Loughran beat younger versions of those Champs and Walker only drew with Sharkey who could be good or indifferent Schmeling gave him a hiding.
