I get that Wilder fan boys try to hype up Ortiz for Wilders win over him.

However, why is it that mosts ( not all) top 15-20 heavyweight are not eager to jump in the ring with the cuban southpaw

Let's look at the when Joe Joyce called out Luis Ortiz . Joyce had insisted he wanted Ortiz at firsts and wanted him next.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/3kingsboxing.com/joyce-wants-ortiz/amp/
    Joyce calls out ortiz

Ortiz ended up accepting Joyce challenge ...

    https://www.fightsports.tv/luis-ortiz-accepts-joe-joyces-challenge/
    Ortiz accepts Joyce challenge

Then Abel Sanchez turned down Ortiz for Joyce

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bo...anchez-rejected-luis-ortiz-for-joe-joyce/amp/
Abel turns down Ortiz for Joyce

At firsts Joyce called out Ortiz then did not go through with his call out . Sanchez who was training him at the time turn down the fight .

    Clout chasing at its finest

Now lets look back at when Whyte ducked Ortiz
    https://www.boxingnews24.com/2018/04/wbc-orders-dillian-whyte-vs-luis-ortiz-eliminator/

Whyte had waited over 1000 days to fight for his fight for the wbc title however had he fought Ortiz and beaten him he would of gotten his shot at Wilder at the time . the wilder Ortiz rematch that could of been Whyte fighting Wilder .

Hearn even tried to appeal the wbc order of Whyte vs Ortiz eliminator

    https://www.boxingnews24.com/2018/0...ecision-to-order-dillian-whyte-vs-luis-ortiz/

    another top 15 swerving Ortiz

Now lets look at the latest duck Andy Ruiz .

Ruiz had mentioned earlier this year he wanted Ortiz that was his energy Ruiz even posted a picture on instagram asking the fans if Ortiz should be the next fight .

Ruiz however like Joyce got cold feet and started talking about a tune up instead

    https://www.heavyweightboxing.com/p...s-tune-up-in-august-but-it-wont-be-luis-ortiz

Ortiz had asked Ruiz why did he need a tune up when he was already ready to go

    https://www.boxingafrica.com/2020/0...why-do-you-need-a-tuneup-before-you-fight-me/

Ruiz now scheldued to fight Arreola instead

Another duck from a top 15 contender swerves king kong

All in all you have fighters name dropping ortiz name like they actually gonna fight him

Joyce hid behind Sanchez , Whyte did not go through the WBC order Hearn appealed for him.
Ruiz called out Ortiz but then now has tune up .

Wilder fanboys do hype up Ortiz , but these heavyweights that avoided King Kong are showing that maybe Ortiz really is the boogeyman of the heavyweight division

So much reluctance , so much caution and so much avoidance

He's had two shots at the big time and done nothing to earn a third. I'll give it to him that he is a hard-hitting southpaw, and thus, will always be avoided ala Corrie Sanders. But he really needs to start over with some rebuilders before he can start crying about being avoided, and at 50-60 years old, its not like he has a lot of time.

By the way, when you cite "Wilder fan-boys" you aren't fooling anybody.

Ortiz is high risk low reward for the younger HWs like Ruiz and Joyce. He is unlikely to get fights with those fighters as such.

It's pretty simple - because he's a good fighter but not a big commercial draw. It's a risky fight.

They are reluctant to fight eachother too, unless it's for a belt or a shirtload of money.
    Also, big risk low reward.

The risk isn't worth the reward. Despite having Haymon behind him Haymon doesn't seem eager to throw big money for opponents to fight Ortiz, which I get at his age Ortiz isn't a long term investment. Haymon also doesn't seem too eager in matching Ortiz with his other heavies that were on the rise at the time, keeping him as a viable opponent for a Wilder rematch, so while Kownacki was fed every PBC heavy to pad his record Ortiz was left with scraps.

Joyce definitely wasn't ready for Ortiz, he's a horrible style match up for Joyce. So Sanchez did the right thing by not making that fight right away, especially as the financial reward would of been far less than Joyce will get for fighting Dubois later this year if it happens.

But lets not forget Ortiz turned down to fight Joshua when he was offered it when Miller got popped for taking every PED on the planet and Ruiz Jr who was offered less than Ortiz then stepped in to take the fight and shock the world. So it's not like Ortiz hasn't had opportunities.

This senile old man lost twice to one of the worst alphabet title holders of all time and yet to drop a top 10 opponent. Why would anyone be scared of him?
Ortiz is just a tune up fight for a top boxer

If Ortiz is looking for a fight, he should give Chisora a call. Chisora ducks no one.

I'm sure fighters like Chisora, Takam, Rivas etc would have no problems fighting him. Why doesn't he ever fight someone like that? Why is it only the likes of Travis Kauffman and Razvan Cojanu who supposedly step up to the plate, hmm?

Haymon is keeping Ortiz as a gatekeeper.
