Canelo won the WBO title at 175lbs. He should have fought Beterbiev. Instead he vacated the title and fled as quickly as his PEDs tests disappared.
Hard to respond to such stupidity but I will give it a go: DAZN wants premier opponents. Meaning those with star power. If they werent happy with Kovalev, the biggest name at 175, then why would they be happy with Beterbiev? DAZN doesnt care about records or status, they want the biggest fights such as Golovkin.
I get that many Canelo haters would be complaining about Yildrim as not the best possible opponent for Canelo, but he's not trying to fight Yildrim for any other reason than he's the #1 contender that is next in-line for the vacant WBC 168-lb title. Remember a couple of a years ago when many of these people praised GGG for wanting to pick up all the belts at Middleweight? Well Canelo is trying to challenge for the SMW WBC Title and Yildrim is the #1 contender. It's not like Canelo is just randomly trying to fight Yildrim for a non-title. Many of you don't consider regular titles like the regular title he won vs Fielding to be as important as the WBC World Title. So now he's trying to win the main title in this division and you have a problem with it?

There is absolutely nothing impressive about beating a 36 year old alcoholic Kovalev, who lost 3 of his last 6 going into that fight, 2 of which were by KO on a 5 week turnaround. Why do you think the sport is in such a sorry state in America?
You complete ignored the rest of what I wrote. It's like you only read the name Kovalev. Like I said, and try to understand this time; DAZN want's big fights. Meaning they need Alvarez to face against the biggest names. Kovalev was and likely still is THE biggest name at LHW. If DAZN was not happy with that, then why would they care about Beterbiev? Beterbiev is a hardcore fans darling. The casual audience barely knows him or has seen him. Kovalev was one of HBO's biggest hits at the time and continued to deliver big ratings after HBO Boxing kicked the bucket.
Kovalev never really sold much on PPV. The Ward fights did abysmal sales and that was as good of a fight to make as any at the time.

I feel with no gate money, due to COVID, no promotion will have a good year until this passes. Get out and vote this year people. We need things to go back to normal. Go read some of the articles on this subject. What is being reported is that DAZN have not been happy with the opponents. They clearly want Golovkin. But atm, Golovkin turned the fight down. And according to multiple sources, DAZN are not willing to pay the 40 mil for anyone else. So what is Alvarez supposed to do?
