what are your thoughts about this rarely (if ever) discussed fighter?

Gaining headlines as the adopted son of Floyd Patterson, Tracy was heavy-handed, well schooled boxer-puncher who was brought up slowly in an almost yesteryear way, not afraid to take a few hard bumps in the road in order to better himself overall.

After a close points loss to Steve Cruz in 1989, he went on to stop Thierry Jacob, Daniel Zaragoza, and decision Jesse Benavides among others. He also later stopped a Duva kid on the way up, Ed Hopson, in two. His fight with Benavides is a thriller, very close and exciting.

He seemed a bit slow of hand and foot, and wasn't terribly hard to hit. He had a sort of one-speed style but it was enough to beat all but the very best.

    Thoughts?

I enjoyed watching him box back then. Don't remember him being slow though, like u said a very good boxer/puncher. Steve Cruze u mentioned was very good too

I liked his style, but only really know of him through looking into Gatti and Zaragoza. His dad's name is his most eye catching feature IMO.

Ever seen the Benavides fight? Love to see your card on that one.

I liked his methodical style and I remember his fights with Arcero-Sanchez, and Zaragoza. I really had an aversion to Eddie Hopson so that knockout was a high point.
If memory is correct, Gatti boxed very smartly against Harris-Patterson.

Gatti did, yes! I always point to that as evidence that Gatti wasn't the stereotypical "glorified clubfighter" some here claim.

I loved the Hopson result too. Zero chin on that guy. Talk about hype.
