I feel we could find the answer to this question if AJ or Fury ever fight Usyk, howevder Usyk is far bigger than Patterson was, would Floyd stand a chance against fighters like these two?

I think his style would be an advantage, but the size thing is too much. He's hardly even a LHW and could probably have made MW for the first half of his career.

The closest (thought not very close) style comparisons to him are Ruiz and Povetkin, who both pulled off surprise upsets. Not a lot of pressure fighter heavyweights now. Maybe if we allowed him a little juice he could be a major threat.

They'd drop Patterson over and over like he was a light heavyweight fighting a modern day heavyweight. H2H he's screwed against them.
No matter how good Patterson was for his time, he fought in a period when heavyweights were much smaller.

Of course Patterson is a greater boxer as both Joshua and Fury combined.

Both would win by stoppage. He’s the size of an average light heavyweight. The era is completely different.

Floyd is lighting fast compared to anybody Joshua or Fury has fought and I have no doubt Patterson could hurt either Joshua or Fury if he landed clean or put his combinations on them.

However, that said Floyd was a clean fighter, so I could see that working against him against with Fury, who the moment he managed to get a clinch on Patterson would start muscling Patterson around the ring until he stopped him much like Cunningham. As a smaller fighter being able to keep Fury from manhandling you is a must, which unfortunately wasn’t something Floyd excelled at.

If Joshua managed to connect clean he’d end Patterson, but Joshua would be very vulnerable in exchanges with Floyd, who had hands twice as fast as Ruiz’s. Also, Joshua’s lack of head movement could get him in trouble against Patterson.

Because he had a great left hook like Povetkin`s who gave AJ fits until being caught, could be the same v the much smaller Floyd.

Floyd was a glass cannon in the 50s and 60s and he was small then. Fury lived through that Wilder shot no chance Floyd stops him. Joshua was eating Klitschko punches. Don't get me wrong Floyd is a great watch but bruh, no.

No chance, ZERO (Floyd wins). Not even in an alternate universe.
