George Foreman 1973 vs Mike Tyson 1988, 15 Rounds.

The 70s was filled w/ big hitters, but you may be right. Holyfield was the only fighter of the 90s I felt was not REALLY powerful, but he could still hit.

 

Ive been waiting for several years now for someone to explain to me what Tyson does when he is forced to back up and gets pivoted and re directed like a bull every time he tries to weave and press inside with those short arms.

 

Np, imo being a Tyson fan carries a stigma with it to a degree. A lot of die-hard Tyson fans, most I would have to say, are not good thinkers imo. Rude, blind, and don't truly analyze a fighter (some to greater degrees than other). Its great to see somebody who can actually give Tyson a lot of great support with really good reasons. Keep it up man.

 

I'd love to see a firefight between those two in their respective primes.

Only prime Holmes vs. Foreman interests me more amongst my favorite heavies.

 

1973 George Foreman was in the same mold as his idol, Charles Sonny Liston. These two came from a very troubled background, they fought in the streets and to the top in their respective era's. I think that Cus D Amato would have avoided George like he avoided Sonny Liston

There are reasons why he was knighted "Boneclutcher" and "Bonehugger". Geezus man, did YOU watch the fight?

Maybe I need to rephrase it: Nobody stands in front of Tyson...and wins. Meaning nobody has outslugged Tyson. You need a little more to your game and Foreman doesn't have it. I just don't think having concussive power is enough. It sure helps, though.

 

Thanks dude! Yeah I admit it can get embarrassing at times. Tyson automatically has an uphill battle in debates because of his lifestyle and demeanor. He pissed off a lot of people. And the fans with limited knowledge expect him to beat Ali and Foreman in the same night. It does get that bad at times.

Holmes-Foreman is one of my favorite matches in any weight class. Holmes being susceptible to rights with Foreman susceptible to boxers with solid chins.

Louis-Liston takes the cake for me. Tyson-Ali of course is near the top along with Bowe-Lewis, Holyfield-Charles, Dempsey-Marciano and Frazier-Norton.

I'm not saying Tyson has no chance it's just that i solidly favor Foreman here. It's a mouth watering match up.

I'm sorta glad they didn't match up in some ways. Who knows, it may not have done either any favors. It still would have been interesting tho.

 

George has the second hardest jab in heavyweight history behind Liston. Couple that with chin and strength and that is enough.

 

No it isn't enough. You need the ability to land your punches effectively and Foreman hasn't got that.

 

Mike Tyson will be coming straight at George Foreman, George won't have to look for him he'll be right there on the railroad tracks in front of a locomotive. Couple that with Tyson would be afraid of Foreman, Cus always told him a guy like George was all wrong for him, that's why when George was an old man Tyson was offered big money to fight him and said no, witnesses said that Mike said he wouldn't fight that F---ing animal.

 

Another stupid cliche that people keep repeating. Tyson doesn't need to come straight at Foreman at all, he can just wait for Foreman to do that, slip under his punches and counter.

Tyson wanted to part of Foreman cause he had absolutely NOTHING to gain from fighting him.
Had he won, the press would say it's a meaningless win cause he beat and old man.
If a miracle were to happen and he'd have lost to Foreman, he'd have lost all credibility.
