This is a very ignorant post. Hopkins in his prime threw 90-100 punches a round and had one of the best workrates ever. Better than GGG

The bodyshots Hopkins landed against Trinidad were no way illegal.

 yes Scar... every argument you think you won you really won. :eaea:

Discussion w/ life with you??? dafuq that even supposed to mean? You haven't he faintest clue about my life. You assume the worst and pretend that is the reality. Typical trait of an overcompensating loser trying to make his life seem so much better over the internet w/ empty words like expensive shoes and believing your own BS about what you think my life is about. You're probably an internet tough guy as well.

I have no complaints in life. Beautiful wife, nice house, good job. WTF do I need more? Overly expensive shoes!?!?! :risas3: That's the culmination of a great life to you? That's actually pathetic. Use some of your extra money to buy some class and humility FFS turdboy...

GGG would have been a welcomed gift for BHOP. An absolutely easy night. He would look like the elephant man the next day. BHOP was way too clever. Very old school style that most new fight fans can't understand.

I pick Hopkins on pts. Absolutely love GGG and it's arguable we never saw the best of him against the elite for obvious reasons.

However I wouldn't feel comfortable betting against Hopkins in this one.

He was more than just a spoiler, just watch his fights against Johnson and Council, the pace he set, how little he clinched and spoiled. But even if you are correct and he spoils instead of matching GGG for work rate, that just means he spoils his way to a win over Golovkin.

Even Calzaghe who's workrate was immense had is work rate greatly diminished vs a past prime Hopkins, imagine what he'd do to Golovkin's work rate against a prime Hopkins he couldn't out work? Golovkin's only way to win is to out work Hopkins and apply consistent pressure and break him down. Golovkin isn't out boxing him, he isn't knocking him out with one shot, he isn't going to beat him with just the jab no matter how good his jab is. So if Hopkin spoils as you say instead of matching him for work rate, he still beats Golovkin.

Hopkins has more ways to win as he's simply the more versatile fighter. Whether he decides to go to war, spoil or box like he did vs Tito or do a combination of all 3, he would come out on top, Golovkin simply isn't on his level and I say that as Golovkin fan.

I don't need to think I won. You are an avid supporter of someone like Margarito. I don't need to do anything to call you a loser. Erased all the rest without even bothering to read. Like I'll bother reading the story of your irrelevant life.

Erased w/o reading? You're a freaking coward. And please turdboy, you read it all. Just struck too close to home, since you know your internet posturing is a joke. Your bragging about shoes is a joke. Your "my life is better" BS is a joke.

Everyone sees that crap as a joke. Except you, since like I said, you aren't smart or clever.

Yeahhhhhhh, there's levels to this. Murray was a decent boxer, but never won a major world title and no where near Hopkins level.

I'm a supporter of my friend Antonio Margarito too so I guess I am a loser too in your opinion huh ?? Wow youve hurt my feelings LOL The ludicrous posts you make gives me the impression its YOU that are the loser .Proves you know nothing about the sport. Go watch the video on youtube where Tony calmly walks up to Floyd to ask him "Why wont you fight me " ?? Floyd goes hysterical blabbering like Daffy Duck he's TERRRIFIED!!! Then he really embarrasses himself. ROFLMAO!! If you support a coward like him I KNOW youre a loser

You guys are absolutely deluded seriously..GGG has a far more extensive amateur record and to think he wouldn't be able to figure Hopkins out is ridiculous. GGG pro resume is shite (blame others for ducking him in his prime) but so is Hopkins.. Hopkins resume is shite (in terms of actually winning) when did he actually beat a legit opponent in their prime (that wasn't coming up in weight or aging). GGG educated pressure and jab would break him down and he'd UD him or TKO him late... Its hard to spoil with a ramrod jab down your throat and especially when there's strategy behind it and disgusting angled hooks.. Honestly starting believe 80% of this forum are genuine morons

Being a much bigger 3G fan than I am of Bernard, I would reluctantly pick him in a close decision. Some of you are really downplaying 3G's boxing pedigree.

And the whole, "Who did 3G beat to make you think he could beat Bernard?" line is embarrassingly bad.

Who did Buster Douglas beat to make one think he beats Iron Mike?
Who did Floyd Mayweather beat to before genero hernandez?
Who did Sugar Shane beat before he beat Oscar in their first fight?
Who did Jermain taylor beat before he beat Bernard?
Who did Tarver beat before he beat RJJ?
Who did Fury beat before he beat Wlad?
Who did Oscar beat that was better then Pernell Whiatker?

These examples can go on and on... so if the only way you think a fighter beats a more accomplished guy is to beat someone AS ACCOMPLISHED before, you really have no idea how boxing has worked throughout it's history. It's sad that it needs to be explained to some of you... geez...o_O

It's a hypothetical match up so you can only go off of what you've seen the fighters do, based on who they fought and if there are any similarities. In most of the examples that you gave those fighters were favored to lose because they hadn't proven themselves yet. However in those cases a lot of those fighters were also pre-prime or entering their prime and didn't have a whole career to look at. There were a lot more question marks.

In this case I think GGG is either on the tale end or past his prime and his title defense run is over. Hopkins is retired so we have this whole career to look at.

So far I can't think of GGG fighting anyone who had as great of defense, great counter puncher, or who knew how to spoil a fight like Hopkins. The closest I would say was Canelo and those were tough fights regardless if you scored them for GGG. His other biggest test was Jacobs which also caused GGG a lot of problems with his height, reach and size. I think the elements that frustrated GGG in these fights, Hopkins would exploit.

Hopkins on the other hand took on several great come forward punchers from Echols, Trinidad, Taylor, Tarver, Pavlik, Jones, Pascal, Dawson, Cloud. He didn't win them all nor are they all on GGG's level, but it gives you more of an idea of how Hopkins would handle a fight with GGG.

For me it would be a close fight, but I think Hopkins would find ways to spoil the fight and counter GGG in most rounds.

32 year old Hopkins isn't peak? People were saying he was ready to be taken at 35 before he fought Tito, then he beat a whole loads of top ranked fighters and now all their fans pretend he's in his prime in his late 30's or even in his 40's, the level of cope from butt hurt fans is laughable.

He became a spoiler later in his career out of necessity as he wasn't as fast, as powerful or able to throw as much, why? Because he was past his physical peak. You could argue he became a better fighter after his physical peak, but I'd say he was noticeably past prime after the Joppy fight as the next fight his 3rd with Allen he was taken the distance when prime Hopkins stopped him in 7 rounds.

So any version of "peak" Hopkins was more than capable of matching Golovkin for work rate as the Joppy fight showed he could still fight at a high pace.

But if you decide that peak Hopkins is the older version who would struggle to throw 500 punches over 12 rounds then yeah Golovkin perhaps beats that version and even that's debatable, but don't pretend that's peak Hopkins.
