It was listed as 80.5 inches in the Leotis Martin fight.

I’m also pretty sure I saw some old newspaper articles listing it as 82” or something.

Good point but AJ`s punches are pretty quick, M.Tyson`s biceps measured 18.5 inches in his prime and his hands were very quick

Carnera`s punch technique was lousey, he couldn`t punch with all his weight behind his shots, Louis`s punch technique was perfect and the speed of his shots added to the power.

I just feel a heavyweight with really comparative skinny arms would be too weak to compete with bigger guys with a good punch technique.

I always read 16" for Tyson & Holyfield, & this & there chest measurements always looked to small.
I never read 18.5 for Tyson but that makes sense.

It's not a prerequisite at least. Bob Foster had long thin arms and hit like a mule. On the other Harold Johnson had thick arms but wasn't in that league as a puncher. Wilder has a similar build as Foster and hits like a ton of bricks.

But many of the big punchers seem to have pretty big arms. Like Liston, Foreman, Tyson, Ruddock, Morrison, Tua and Peter. And even more rangy punchers like Wlad and Lewis seem to have pretty developed biceps.

Never looked at the measurement for any of these fighters' biceps, so this is just going from how they've looked to me.

The bicep does a part when pulling in the arc.

None of these 'tale of the tape' measurements are reliable, because there's simply no regulations or standards for how the measurements are taken - assuming they were taken at all.

I can measure a 'biceps' (upper arm) several different ways and come up with a different reading.
Same with 'thigh', 'neck', 'chest', 'waist', 'calf', whatever.

Peter and Tua ? They have unimpressive fat arms. Lewis,Tyson,,Bruno,Ruddock are better examples.

Ok. Is that unusually much for a 6'7' fighter?
