I'd like to nominate Bradley-Alexander two young undefeated title holders squaring off for 140 pound supremacy it had all the makings of a great fight but was straight trash. Alexander got caught with a headbutt pretty early and then for the rest of the fight acted like he'd rather be anywhere else in the world other than that ring. I know Alexander had drug addiction issues maybe he was fighting them going into that fight i don't know but the fight was a huge let down.

What is everyone else big let down fights that looked good on paper going in.

I knew Bradley Alexander was going to be an awful watch going in. I thought it'd be more competitive but entertainment wise it worked out pretty much exactly how I thought it would.

Another fight was Lucas mattysse-rulsan provodnikov a fight that looked like it was going to be a all out war on paper but I dont remember too many clean hard shots landing by either fighter. I remember at the end saying it wasn't a good fight at all.

GGG-Lemeiux. That was one of the most hyped up, heavily commercialized fights I've seen in recent time. 2 MW world champions with some of the highest KO percentages in MW history, but turned out to be a 1 sided snooze fest.

Mayweather Vs Pac was bloody atrocious considering the fighters involved and the build up

Probably Broner vs John Molina not a great marquee fight but a big stage as PBC debuted

I figured Molina with no defense vs a sharp shooter like Broner would have fireworks

Nope Broner played it very safe and won handily in dull fight

i remember some heavy bombs by both guys after lucas built an early lead and cut ruslan

maybe it was one of those fights that was just good because you were on the edge of the seat because of the KO power but not by the great action in the ring

Oscar de la Hoya vs Felix Trinidad was supposed to be the next Hagler-Hearns but turned out to be an utter disappointment.

Also Juan Diaz vs Michael Katsidis failed to live up to the expectation of being an all out war.

Sergio Martinez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr was also heavily hyped at the time but it turned into a really one sided bout with only the 12th round being the most thrilling when people thought Jr could pull off what his dad did before.

It wasn’t the best fight but it was still a damn good scrap. Matthysse pretty much outboxed Provodnikov and used his jab and firing combinations while Provodnikov constantly came forward and ate punches while occasionally landing some hard shots that didn’t faze Matthysse. Never understood why it was seen as a close fight when Provodnikov pretty much got hit with almost every punch that Lucas threw at him.
But I do agree, it wasn’t as great of a fight that everyone was hoping for even though it was still entertaining to watch.

It was a good fight but not what we expected.
I felt the same on first view.

Matthysse ended up boxing Provodnikovs ears off in a cautionary manner. This and his power made Provodnikov a bit timid in the early going. And then Provodnikov would land those occasional bombs.
At least that´s how I remember it.
The lack of dramatic moments was the issue that night. The fight itself makes for great highlights but drags on a bit. Kind of like Berto-Ortiz which was just insane. But then started dragging ass after the 6th round.
