Many people speculate that Pacquiao was using Toradol injections on fight night since at least the DLH fight. Read up on how that would be beneficial to a boxer on fight night.

I personally think Pac benefited from PEDs during his career. The fact that he was moving up and up in weight while knocking bigger fighters out of their shoes was suspect. Once called out for PED use, his KOs suddenly dropped way off.

I can't prove it though. I know just mentioning it will make some of Pac's fans head's explode.

It would have been more incriminating if the KOs hadn't stopped. Pac is often referred to as a lightweight (Mikey, Thurman, Beltran) and fighting well above his ideal weight class. But who was he supposed to have KO'd at 147 when he fought them? Bare in mind that these guys were much bigger men (with the exception of Marquez) and generally 160+ on fight night.

Mosley — has never been stopped (quit on his stool due to shoulder injury)
    Bradley — never been stopped
    Clottey — never been stopped
Rios — had never been stopped (finally stopped when he was completely shot)
    Marquez — never been stopped
Algieri — had never been stopped (almost in the 9th)
    Mayweather — never been stopped
Horn — had never been stopped (almost in the 9th)
    Broner — never been stopped

Sooooooooo... What you are saying is that it's suspicious that Pac didn't KO much bigger and sturdier guys at his highest weight class?

    Fantastic logic there.

Your wrong they can... One thing that can affect a fighters ability to take shots particularly later on in the fight is fatigue. If you can use peds to improve fitness u can therefore improve your chin in a way.

The problem with discussing punch resistance in boxing with most people is that, while the average person (even the average "boxing fan") DKSAB, they know even less about chins and what nuanced attributes they are. There are really two components that should be at the forefront of any discussion of an individual's "chin":

    1. How big a shot it takes for him to be hurt and/or staggered and/or dropped and
1b. How big a shot to kayo him
      ...and,
    2. How well he can recover from getting his button pressed in a way that yields results from 1 but short of condition 1a.
...in the case of Pacquiao, you have a moderately high value for 1 (let's say "pretty good, not great" resistance to heavy shots from halfway decent hitters in whatever division he is campaigning in any given time, without being hurt/staggered/dropped), a higher value for 1b (it took a perfect shot from JMM, and even a younger Pac had to absorb one monster of a clobbering blow from Torrecampo; in that KO his green hastiness and defensive lapse is to be tut-tutted more than his chin) and quite a mediocre value for 2 (if you can pass that bite point, he's vulnerable to being finished). By contrast you have JMM with a below-average value for criterion 1 (he can be dropped by a straw-weight feather-fist if they can time him right and land flush :sisi1), a SUPREMELY high value for 1b (never stopped), and off-the-chart godlike values for 2 (his recuperative powers are the stuff of legend).

So which of them has the better chin? There's no easy answer. You could interpret the above data to make a case for either. Chin is far more nuanced a concept than most assume.

I always argue against those who say peds domt improve skills.

Not true, like u said u can train hardet, longer and recover faster to then go again fresher. Therefore you can practice ur technique longer, more often amd just like anythung the more you can practice something the better u will become at it.

Also as a fighter tires your technique can get poorer therefore improve your fitness can help your technique in the latter stages of a fight

There won't be a smarter or more succinct post on the subject than mine ITT but it won't get a single like or reply because a thread like this only attracts the lowest common denominator and that sort only responds to allies or enemies in their own dumb**** partisan lane. :ohno
