At 140lbs had they fought back then I'd favour Hatton. Cotto making the weight made him more vulnerable we saw that in the Torres fight as he was dropped and hurt repeatedly. I can't see that Cotto handling the Hatton who beat Tszyu, no chance. But Cotto ended up being the better fighter in my opinion. Moving up in weight allowed him to become a more well rounded boxer as he wasn't expending so much time and effort to just make weight. Had the fight happened later on at 147lbs, I'd favour Cotto to win comfortably, especially as Hatton never looked great at that weight. So putting them up against each other prime for prime would mean a younger 140lbs Hatton vs an older 147lbs Cotto. In that scenario Cotto wins, not just because of the weight advantage but because he simply was better overall by that stage and would even beat the Hatton that beat Tszyu.
