In a recent article on ESPN conducted by Dan Rafael, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer made it clear that De La Hoya plans to continue fighting. However Schaefer also made it clear that a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr is not in De La Hoya's plans.

Speaking to ESPN, Schaefer said: "Oscar told me he's not hanging them up, but we have not talked about who, when or where. But it won't be a rematch with Floyd Mayweather." Schaefer added: "Oscar's thoughts about
a Mayweather rematch are 'Been there, done that.' Most people felt like it was a close fight and that Oscar came to fight. [Many] fans believe Oscar won the fight."

Schaefer said he asked De La Hoya about his interest in a rematch.

"I said, 'What do you think' because I had been reading everywhere that Floyd Mayweather was calling Oscar out for a rematch," Schaefer added: "Oscar told me he respects Mayweather, but he is not going to do a rematch.'

"Oscar thinks Mayweather is a great fighter and it was a great promotion. It's not like he doesn't deserve a rematch or anything like that. It's more like been there done that, move on. What the 'move on' part means I don't know. It's not the time to discuss it. When he wants to he will come and talk to me. There is not an urgency."

Schaefer then added: "We all know that Oscar is not
going to fight again in 2007."

Who should Oscar fight next ??

If you honestly think he can't han with the elite after the Mayweather fight please stop watching boxing right now ..And here's a news flash there has only been 1 man to KO Oscar and that was Hopkins ,Who was a middle weight ..

And its easier to tell someone to call it quits when we sit behind the keyboard ..I doubt he goes out like Jones considering he isn't going up to heavy and coming back down ..He still creates a buzz and is defeaintly needed since boxing has yet to secure an heir apparent to the Golden Boy or fill the void left by Tyson at Heavy ..

****in DLH.. Its fighting once a year that hurts him more than anything.

Trinidad or Margarito/Cotto would be fine with me. A catch weight and a fight with Hatton in the U.S. or even U.K. could possibly surpase the DLH/Mayweather fight. Only if it were to take place overseas though.

I honestly think the main reason that he won't fight Floyd again

Is for fear of boring the fans to death with his play it safe style .

I think he will either chose Tito or challenge Winky at 154 if he beats Hopkins ..

I'm a De La Hoya fan but I have a bad feeling if he steps in the ring with any of those guys except Tito he might get hurt badly.

A fight with Tito could be made plus there is unfinished business ..I'd love for Cotto to get an oppurtunity ..He looks to be the next big thing ..A fight with Oscar does wonders for his popularity .

Tito vs De La Hoya should be the measuring stick for ODH to see if he might have any chance versus Cotto because IMO I think the Mayweather fight took alot out of The Golden Boy. ODH doesn't need to prove himself anymore he just needs to continue his promoting and help the up and coming stars.

if he fights tito and beats him then he fights cotto in his last fight, if he fights tito and loose, tito fights cotto in a HUGE fight between 2 PRicans... awsome scenarios
