I always bang on about the Hawk being overrated but i think he and Whitaker would have a great fight.

He "scored" more punches than ODLH while "clowning around" though. Knocked him down too, granted it was just a flash KD, had him switching stances and struggling to get anything going and more journalists at ringside scored it for Pea at the time. Pea might have been clowning around but I find ODLH trying to flurry at the end of rounds to nick them even more disingenuous.

I think it's Floyd Mayweather Jr. that once said Pea's first loss was against Trinidad, and I tend to agree.

    Great matchup @HellSpawn86

Hard one to pick. I'll pick Pryor because of his solid chin, great use of pivots/angles and carries power into championship rounds. I'm assuming he's allowed his magic water.

It's fair to say neither guy ever faced a fighter like the other. SweetPea was outstanding in his short stay at 140lbs. Probably the best performances he ever had. Rafael Pinada comes to mind. A dangerous Columbian fighter with great puching power. Just coming off slepting Roger Mayweather with one punch. Pea schooled him from the pocket.
Pryor was a unique fighter as well. I don't know if you can train for what he brings. He was nuts, a force of nature once the bell ring. His speed and volume alone make him tough to hold at bay. His punching power made him a friggin Nightmare. Before Aaron walked into that crackhouse in Miami never to come out again he knocked out everybody.
Even Cervantes was an older champion with some miles on the odometer but he couldnt go 3 with Aaron Pryor. That is how a great fighter gets the job done. I wouldn't say with certainty that Pryor couldn't score a stoppage of Whitaker. It would be interesting.

One of the keys imo is that Aaron isn't going to be fazed by anything Whitaker throws or lands. I don't mean hurt, he won't be fazed. He won't even pay attention to SweetPea's punches. He'll be too busy throwing his own snappy flurries. The other key is Aaron has slightly faster hands.

I don't count the DelaHoya fight because that was ar 147 and Pea was already fading by late 1997.

I'm going pick Pryor by decision with a knockdown or two with the outside chance of a stoppage.
