I don't do this very often on this forum but it apparently needs done. In honour of Panama Lewis, I will share an anecdote from my life. It was some time ago. I was a fledgling fighter. Uncouth, uneducated, unhinged. Lewis told me he knew more about me than I did my own self. It turned out he was right. He was training me out in a boat. "I cannot swim, you Spanish peacock." I said to him. He was kind of a fancy Dan type, at the time. "I'm not Spanish. I'm Egyptian." He said, baiting me, in his weird accent, which was neither Spanish nor Egyptian. "You said you were from Spain! Liar!" I cried. "You have the manners of a goat..." he incriminated, continuing: "...and you smell like dung. And you have no knowledge whatsoever of your potential. Now, get out!" "No! Help!" I screamed, believing myself now drowning outside the boat. My balance upset, my confidence ruined, my ego bruised, and my world shattered. "Help me, I'm drowning!" I lambasted. "You can't drown, you fool. You're immortal!" he chastised. Then, after paying for several courses and something called an audit, I learned of my home world of planet Zeist and some other illuminating and edifying things of that sort. And that a prime VIrginia Madsen was like warmth and heaven, crimson and clover, rolling over and over, like Beethoven, the rover, letting Jimi take over. Anyway, thank you for the training and the teaching, Panama. And for trying to protect Heather, although kind of failing miserably, and really effing up my already-dilapidated castle. And my condolences to Lennox on his father. What a family of boxing royalty, man. I wish people would show some damn respect, ya'll.
I am not fully with it today. Took me a bit to figure out who DK is . He made some amazing super stacked boxing cards and I will always be grateful to him for that. However, the way he treated other boxers should have seen him banned from boxing for life years ago. As for the death of Sam Garrett, it was an absolute disgrace that he was jailed for only 3 years and 11 months based on what I have read about the case. It was an even bigger disgrace that he was later pardoned for this crime.
Like load their gloves, and give mixed them water bottles with crushed up asthma medicine yeah he didn't help them achieve their potential he helped them cheat.
Thats the second boxing figure I have no respect for that has passed this year .Lewis for the despicable deeds regarding Billy Collins & the glove tampering & Richardson for the way he started the LIE that Antonio Margarito had loaded gloves which ruined his career & tarnished an innocent fighters name Ive no doubt they will both have to answer for their crimes now but not for me to say R.I.P !!!!
Unfortunately cheating in boxing is a lot more common than you might think considering how much money is on the line. Lewis didn’t do anything many other top trainers handling fighters past or present haven’t done. He just seems to be a convenient scapegoat. Angelo Dundee also was an excellent trainer, but wasn’t above cheating if it helped his fighter win and I could name plenty of other prominent trainers, who did shady things to help their fighters win, but I’d be typing all day. In the past I remember several less well known fighters that didn’t have a powerful team behind them complaining about Trinidad’s wraps, but they didn’t have the leverage to do anything about it and were ignored. But, when Trinidad was going to fight Hopkins, I remember Richardson refusing to sign off on the wraps and forcing them to be redone.
