Shyteloads of iron chinned fighters have been stopped on their feet or pulled out of a fight while still compis menti but unable to see or slip shots. I'm not saying it's the most likely scenario, I'd favour Golovkin to do the rounds way more often than not, he's a tough, tough man. Just that it wouldn't shock me to see him pulled out by his corner even if it's relatively unlikely. If you're that sure that Golovkin goes the rounds, fair enough. But stranger things have happened in the sport, feckloads of them. Valdez one punching Briscoe, Nunn one punching Kalambay, Carter bombing out Griffith in a round, Robinson iceing Fullmer, I could go on forever. Just my opinion that Golovkin has been hit a hell of a lot, flush, by fighters far less precise and damaging than Toney. Far more outrageous things get said every other thread on here, this thread alone is full of them.
Correct me if I'm wrong the Sanderline fights were within 2 years of him going pro and he had no real amatuer career. James plainly didn't give a **** about Tiberi, and didn't bother to show up.
There's too many Toney fans to make this poll mean something. GGG throws and land more punches, plus hit harder. That's the formula to beat Toney. Toney's best win at middleweight twas perhaps Mike Nunn. Okay, Toney was being out boxed. Nunn's jab was a factor. GGG has a top a jab too. Toney eded up winning via come from behind KO when Nunn tired. If Nunn had better stamina or chin like GGG does, he wins. As the new champion, Toney won a split decision over Reggie Johnson ( Was Johnson that good? ) , drew with McCallum ( Who really won that won that one, help me out, I dow not recall seeing it ) and flat out should have lost to Dave Tiberi. It was a terrible robbery., Tiberi won it! Where is this ATG stuff? I see suspect vs top ten opponents and loss to a good journeyman. After this Toney beat Barkley and barely edged McCallum ( Didn't see that one either, who should have won it? ) Toney then fought a bunch of nobodies. ( WHY? ) until meeting Roy Jones where he was schooled. Toney maybe won 2 rounds of 12. Okay I'll be nice and say 3. Jones landed 285 of 614 punches (46%) and Toney connected on 157 of 451 (35%). Okay, so we have a guy who came back to win, barely edged Johnson, and barley was proven better than McCallum, who also lost to Tiberi and was schooled by the best he fought in Roy Jones.
Gennadiy Golovkin 160 lbs drew with Saul Alvarez 160 lbs by SD in round 12 of 12 Where was Golovkin 175+ pounds?
GGG fought 1 top fighter in his whole career, all at 160, he has a draw and a loss to that man. That man fights like a shorter slower James Toney.
I said I did not see the fight. Read read what I said please. " This content is protected ? " This content is protected While MCCallum was good, he pretty much lost to the best he fought. So I'm asking did Toney deserve to win both fights with McCallum or not?
You don't really think Canelo won those fight, do you? GGG kicked butt, he didn't lose to the likes to Tiberi, or draw to lesser fighters, nor was he blown away by the best fighters he fought.
Sorry, my mistake as I misunderstood. I thought you were saying that McCallum deserved to win, as in McCallum, who deserves to win that one. Labelling McCallum as 'good' but downgrading him because he lost to the best he fought (which is a stupid criticism IMO) is ridiculous. He beat some incredible opposition, and should without question be rated above GGG, Canelo and Jacobs. Toney won both with room to spare on my cards. They were absolutely brilliant fights BTW, I highly recommend them.
Man threw 16 body shots in two fights. Clearly lost the second, and if GGG fought Roy the same thing would happen to him too. GGGs only hope is James DGAFs his way up to 230 before camp.
Toney is a volume puncher, but his left hook carried up pretty well. Lemieux is the only one off that list I'd say clearly hit harder with 1 punch.
You are in the extreme minority. Here are all the cards from people covering or in boxing. 116 = GGG won 021 = Draw 009 = Canelo won [includes 2 Golden Boy promoters] 116/146 = 79% had GGG winning the fight. 021/146 = 15% had a draw. 009/146 = 06% had Canelo winning the fight.
Okay, that's what I wanted to know. Regarding McCallum, I see one really good win and 5 losses to the best he fought. I would say GGG > McCallum.
