Fenech has been matched with Arguello, and Sanchez lately, and in Gomez he'd be facing the same outcome... Jeff just walks into too many counters against all 3. I admit though, Fenech has a much better chance against Gomez than he would have against Arguello and Sanchez.
@88Chris05 I cant buy Donaire having any chance. Not even a puncher's chance, as Gomez wasn't fragile at 122. Gomez was just a league or two above Donaire as a fighter. Donaire had wayyy too many holes to have any chance. He stops Donaire late after giving him a savage beating.
Probably so, @Xplosive. I'd go with Gomez over Donaire too, just wanted to throw another name out there. I'm a great fan of Nonito, mind you, which might cloud my judgement in terms of thinking he can last the distance.
People always say Gomez didn't translate well into 126. We don't know that. The ass beating Sanchez gave him would change the trajectory of anyone's career. Sanchez was one of a kind. Had he not fought Sanchez who knows how he would have done at 126...???
I agree with most of the names that possibly could have taken Gomez,,except Manny Pacquiao, and Morales
This content is protected Tell Barrera that. The biggest puncher ever at 122 was Junior Jones. That is why they called him Poisen.
I'd hardly consider Junior Jones the biggest puncher in the history of 122. And Jones has zero chance against prime Gomez. Gomez would destroy him pretty similar to the way he destroyed Derrick Holmes. Unrelated to the matchup, but I met Jones at a youth boxing event in Jersey about 4 years ago. Good dude.
