Would Wilder's power, speed, reach and height advantage be too much for Larry?

If Wilder had difficulty with Gerald Washington's jab, what is Holmes not going to do to him? I suppose Wilder has a puncher's chance but I believe that Larry takes him to pieces like a lego set.

Considering Fury destroyed Wilder with his jab in both fights, I'd wager he gets stopped late.

Larry goes down heavily, but gets up and wins a decision or late TKO

    Goes through Wilder like butter.

Understand though that the jab Fury was throwing in the second fight was even more fierce than the legendary jab of Holmes.

You saw on Wilder's face what a stiff arm unavoidable full body jab of a 270 pound 6'8" man feels like.

Early 90s Holmes would give Wilder a boxing lesson...

I don't see how jabs will do **** against power like Wilder's. Wilder can take jabs, and more. He'll happily eat jabs from more skilled boxers for many rounds and then land a bomb down the stretch. This has been seen three times already. In fact a jab heavy style is probably more dangerous against Wilder as he only needs to counter once or twice and every jab is an opportunity to do that.

Fury played the dancing jab game in the first fight and almost lost. In the second fight he jabbed as part of his entry but he was coming forward looking to land big RHs and hooks, that's what Wilder struggled with. But Fury only did this because of his experience in the first fight.

Holmes won't have the experience Fury had. He'll try to out box Wilder, dance around and jab. He'll start getting confident, open up a little more. Then Wilder will clean his clock and leave Larry in a coma between the ropes. It will be similar to the Tyson fight, except Holmes will land more before getting smashed into a heap.

Serious question, athletes these days have access to better nutrition, more advanced training methods and evolved sports science that the likes of Larry didn't have available to them sadly.

Mike Tyson even echoed my statement in an interview where he said athletes don't get worse over time they get better.

You are saying that Larry Holmes, one of the finest jabbers in heayweight history, would be ill advised to use his best weapon against Wilder?
My man, you know **** all about boxing.

If Holmes can get back up from what Shavres landed, he can get back up after anything.

Shavers one punch physical power whas higher than Foreman punch, not alone Frazier or Ali, Holmes. It did not helped for Shavers to become an icon.
Holmes had experience Fury did not had, he even was used to spar with Ali when he was in better shape than in end of 70 ies.
    This was Ali.
Holmes from 1980 th most likely beated out all of current TOP10 except A.J and Fury. These both are too large and also with high IQ, looks that are seriously improving too.

Holmes from 1980 th > Wilder or Mike from 1988 th.
Out of prime Holmes is not marquee win in resume. Holmes from 1978-1980 was not Holmes from 1988 th. Like Ali from 1974 th was not Ali from 1980 th.

70-80's Holmes is an easy favorite.
90-95 Holmes has a chance but he's a slight underdog.
Past 95 version of Homes, and it's highly unlikely he could win.

Holmes obviously is the better fighter, but I don't think this would be so easy as some of y'all.

Reach: Holmes 81"; Wilder 83"; Fury 85". Fury's advantage in shoulder height (making it very easy for him to punch down against Wilder, something he wasn't used to) and reach advantage make him a terrible matchup for Deontay. Wilder is dangerous for everyone who wants to move away. Tyson would eat Wilder up, but I think DW would have a decent chance against Holmes.
