I understood fine. I was simply telling you what happened when Ali and Liston faced off, as it's the perfect way of demonstrating the gap between the two. Ali was leagues above Liston, and it showed, right there on tape. There's no-one Liston can beat, who Ali couldn't. Liston may not have been completely primed, but he was damn close to it. He was after all, coming off his two best wins and performances. You've often said Liston is one of your favourites. What you've done is perform extreme mental gymnastics. And btw, I didn't say that Liston blinded him. I said Ali was blind. Key difference. And if you honestly, 100% believe the injured shoulder thing then you're quite naive. Liston finished fights with broken noses and jaws.
Wladimir Klitschko, Holyfield, are good examples. Florida State Attorney Richard Gerstein conducted/ordered a formal investigation immediately after the fight, cause he suspected it was fixed. During the night, a team of eight doctors inspected Liston’s arm at St. Francis Hospital in Miami Beach and agreed that it was too badly damaged for Liston to continue fighting. The torn tendon had bled down into the mass of the biceps, swelling and numbing the arm.
They're awful examples. Ali of the Terrell fight is awful for both. And Holyfield beats Liston. Sure thing.
Because you like Bowe and not so much Louis. I don't say that it'san easy fight for either man (unlike you) but Bowe had horrible defense and was definitely slower than Louis. That would give Joe quite a chance.
No need to be sarcarstic man, it is quite clear he was older than stated. Perhaps he wasn't 45, but he sure was pretty close to 40, if not 40.
No he wasn't and no they weren't. Despite Liston's prime being back in the stone age, he was still pitching a shutout.
I don't think it'd be a hard fight for Louis. Bowe was easy to hit no matter what. With counters, combinations, jabs, one offs, everything. You don't attack Joe Louis from start to finish with a poor defence if you want to win. If Tubbs' straight right over the jab can hit Bowe every time he threw it, then Louis can do the same. Maybe add a left hook to it, then an uppercut. At some point Bowe's gonna fall over. Plus, Bowe's chin isn't the best. It's not bad or anything, but if Biggs, Golota and Holyfield can have him reeling, then Joe Louis can take him out.
You have nothing to prove that. Besides, Liston was at his very best in 1959-61 period, so by your logic he's at his best when he was over 35. Age doesn't change anything, Liston was still in his prime in the first Ali fight.
Not too dissimilar from mine: 1. Ali 2. Louis 3. Holmes 4. Holyfield 5. Foreman 6. Lewis 7. Marciano 8. Frazier 9. Tyson 10. Wlad 11. Liston For me the trickiest part was ranking Foreman over Lewis. Due to LL's record of redemption, plus beating every boxer who ever stood before him, it can be tricky for me to weigh that over George's comeback win at such an advanced age. I chose George because what he did was so unprecedented and since not repeated...plus Lewis' lack of a resounding victory over a well past it Holy always bothered me.
If that was really true, it only means that Liston was amazing old fighter who peaked very late. It wouldn't change anything.
