Both had 15 months without fights.
Briedis might be different shape, if like vs french guy, then Dorticos might probably safely defeat him even by UD. vs french guy he looked lethargic.
If in good shape, might be like vs Usyk, Huck, Charr or Glowacki.

Briedis was carrying a hand injury going into the Gevor fight and he was clearly greatly incapacitated by it and not able to operate even remotely near his best. And there have been real problems within his camp too.

I must've posted this on here at least 4 or 5 times now.

    Old post

I saw a post on YT probably about a week ago (a week before the Gevor fight) saying that Briedis ''can't use his power because he has an injury'' and I just saw this one on there today.

''Briedis had a surgery on his wrist and is still recovering from that. Not sure why that is kept quiet. So pretty much he boxed Gevor one handed. But he has serious issues in his camp, that need addressing asap''

Apparently his longtime trainer who was meant to be very good and was very close with him left him after some dispute and he has been replaced by a couple of ***** trainers who aren't really qualified for the job.

And someone who trains with Briedis posted this on Reddit, too.

''I train with briedis and sadly his career is over. He ****ed up his relationship with his coach who was a huge part of his success and he lost his management. Now he is training with pretty ****ty coaches and even my friends who are better than me can easily do sparrings with him. He might hang around for a while, but not for long.''

    And this

Kleins held Briedis in a very tight schedule, briedis was kept conpletely isated from everyone. Kleins fed him, trained him non stop, he had a completely different attitude. Briedis’ new coach is not an authority for Briedis himself, briedis himself is pretty full of himself now, he talks back all the time, and there is also no tight schedule, so I wouldn’t call this professional boxing

Well, according to Kleins, Briedis' attitude changed after a fight with Huck. He also said this is the reason they don't work anymore. So not sure if that's a coach issue really.

And I just found this on Google

Craig's former coach Klein reveals that Mairi has refused to work due to his attitude

After winning Boxer Maira Brieza over Noel Gevor in the World Boxing Superstar Quarterfinals fight in their thoughts on the match shared by Brieza's former trainer Sandis Kleins. He also finds that Mairi is no longer working on the Sports Center.com website because, according to Klein, Boxer's attitude to his coach has changed. "2011 In the year we began to work, he was an ordinary guy ... "says Klein. But now it has changed.

Asked to evaluate the rally, in an interview with Sportacentrs.com, an experienced coach congratulates Mairi on victory, but does not hide: in his opinion, it was a fight, not a box. Klein emphasizes that he will not comment on the decisions of the judge, as it is not his competence, however, in evaluating the boxing performance, no mistakes have already been corrected after the Moscow fight with Brendon Delorje.

Former Coach, analyzing the Last Fighting Deer, lists a number of things that Mairim managed to show a better boxing. "Mairis jumps on top, heads up, he's sitting on jajb, but there's no sequel. Mairis works well with jab, but you're on the right hand. But the reason is already known to many - the good hand was hurt. So you can say that this He won the fight with jabb. I do not want to go too far because Maira's mistakes are being corrected by his coaches, "says Klein in a conversation with Sportacentrs.com.

None of the boxers have tried to beat the other, show the boxing IQ. According to the coach, it's possible that both did not really understand the other weaknesses.

After the fight, the opinions that Mairim's fighting fad disappeared is no longer in the eyes of the fire. What happened to Briedem, Klein does not comment, since both have not been in contact since July. However, an experienced trainer underlines that a lot can be affected by various factors in the last week before the fight - a family affair or just a problem with the stomach outlet. "I know that Mairim in America was definitely not easy," says Klein.

The coach admits that Maira wins the reward because he loves the box and wants to continue this sport in Latvia. However, both of their long-standing co-operation are now over, and Sandis Klein and Mairi Briedi are no longer working.

"He has settled with me, he has always been correct at all, but the attitude he was in 2011 when we began to work when he was a regular guy ... And he stayed after the fight against Huck. I did not like that," says Klein

After fighting with Huck, Boxer did not touch his coach for about a month, although Klein did not think he would have done anything wrong with him. The coach remembers the episodes in the interview how the Deer in the gym is not greeted with him, sitting at a restaurant in a car and asking for food to be taken out to him, because he did not want to go in and meet Klein, who was sitting there with his friends.

"I do not know what happened to him and why he became such a person. It's hard to work with such a chalume, especially if you have to constantly motivate an athlete. I'm really tired of it." Until then, everyone was in the fight against Huck Mair, We were a real team, everything was really a goat, with Hoo he was playing well, because Hux is really a "dirty" boxer. After that, everything changed, "says Klein.

It was patently obvious to me Briedis was carrying an injury against Noel because he looked a mere shadow of himself and he was throwing the right sparingly and not with the same form or power whenever he did let it go.

YUNIEL DORTICOS BUZZING FOR MAIRIS BRIEDIS SHOWDOWN: YOU DEFINITELY DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS FIGHT

On Saturday, Yuniel Dorticos will put his IBF cruiserweight title on the line against Mairis Briedis in the final of the World Boxing Super Series at the Plazamedia Broadcasting Center, a leading live sports production house, in Munich, Germany.

The winner will also receive the prestigious Muhammad Ali trophy, and the vacant Ring Magazine cruiserweight championship is also up for grabs.

Dorticos, who is rated No. 2 by The Ring at 200 pounds, reached the semi-finals of Season 1 and is confident of becoming the king of his division this time around.

“I am super-excited to be back in the WBSS and humbled to have been picked to be part of it once again,” Dorticos (24-1, 22 knockouts) told The Ring through Louis Fonseca, Vice President of Caribe Promotions Inc.

“Briedis is a former champion, and he boxes okay. He has a lot of tricks and dirty tactics up his sleeve, like he’s [shown] in previous fights. That will not work for him because I will expose him come fight night.

“There are levels and I’m in a different level than he has ever seen before. The medication and anesthesia that I’m bringing for him will show you how weak he is come fight night.”

The 34-year-old Cuban earned his spot in the final by scoring a 10th-round knockout of the previously unbeaten American Andrew Tabiti 15 months ago.

Originally, the final was to have taken Riga, Latvia, but after being postponed twice due to COVID-19, it finally landed in Munich. Dorticos, however, is unconcerned about the location.

“We traveled the world and fought everywhere since my early days in the Cuban national team,” said Dorticos, who has prepared diligently throughout the pandemic with head trainer Pedro Roque in Florida.

The reigning titleholder is also delighted too be competing for additional hardware.

“When I win the Ali Trophy and Ring belt on Saturday it will be an honor,” said the 34-year-old power-puncher. “To win the Ring championship, the WBSS tournament finals and carry on the history and legacy of the all-time greatest Muhammad Ali is humbling. Just being associated with his name will be the most special moment in my life and in my boxing career.

“The Ali Trophy and Ring belt are coming to Miami, Florida with me and my team. It will be a historic moment in boxing, and I will cement my name as one of the best boxing champions in recent years.”

Kalle Sauerland, the Chief Boxing Officer of the WBSS, has gotten to know Dorticos personally and professionally throughout the two seasons of the WBSS and likes what the big Cuban brings to the table.

“Dorticos is a ferocious puncher, we’ve seen that in seasons one and two,” said Sauerland. “Without question, he’s one of the two best cruiserweights on the planet. He has shown his mettle at the very top of the division.

“He’s a great character to work with. As a promoter you always like characters and punchers. He has incredible power, especially in that right hand.

“He was involved in one of the best fights in season one, probably one of the best fights of the year in boxing, and came very close against [Murat] Gassiev in an all-time classic. That was one of the best cruiserweight fights ever.”

Dorticos expects the final to be an all-action shootout.

“It’s going to be an exciting fight for boxing fans all over the world,” he said. “You definitely don’t want to miss this fight. I have trained my ass off and I’m on top of my game.

“I will not waste this opportunity, I’m coming with everything I got. If you think my fight with Tabiti was exciting, when I scored the knockout of the year in 2019, be ready because you just might witness the best KO in boxing history. Buckle up because ‘The KO Doctor’ is ready to prescribe another dose of pain.”

Briedis (26-1, 19 KOs) turned professional in 2009. Although he boxed in his native Latvia, it wasn’t until he knocked out the much heavier Manuel Charr in Russia that he got mainstream attention. In April 2017, he faced off against Marco Huck for the vacant WBC cruiserweight title and took a well-earned 12-round unanimous decision.

From there, the new titleholder entered Season 1 of the WBSS. He outpointed Mike Perez but suffered the only loss of his career at the hands of the excellent Aleksandr Usyk, who claimed a close majority decision. Briedis then entered Season 2 and has beaten Noel Gevor (UD 12) and Krzysztof Glowacki (TKO 3), the latter victory coming in controversial fashion.

MAIRIS BRIEDIS LOOKS TO REACH THE TOP OF THE CRUISERWEIGHT FOOD CHAIN ON SATURDAY

Rugged boxer-puncher and former two-time cruiserweight titlist Mairis Briedis will face IBF cruiserweight titleholder Yuniel Dorticos in the final of the World Boxing Super Series at the Plazamedia Broadcasting Center, a leading live sports production house in Munich, Germany, on Saturday.

The winner will be crowned The Ring Magazine champion and will also collect the prestigious Muhammad Ali Trophy.

Briedis, who is rated No. 1 by The Ring at 200 pounds, reached the semi-final in the inaugural tournament and is pleased to have gone one step further in Season Two.

“The two strongest boxers have gotten to the tournament final, so it will be a clash between the two best cruiserweights in the world,” Briedis (26-1, 19 knockouts) told The Ring through Raimonds Zeps. “That’s why it’s final and the stakes are so high.”

The 35-year-old Latvian appreciates what Dorticos brings to the table but wanted to keep any potential areas of weakness to himself.

“He’s adjusting to his opponents very well during the fights and is a pretty hard puncher,” said Briedis. “Also he’s an experienced boxer.

“That’s something I will only see in the ring when we start boxing. One thing is watching a tape and analyzing what you see on a TV screen but to experience it is two different things.”

Three of Briedis’ last five fights have taken place in his native Latvia. He is usually well supported by throngs of his countrymen and admits that the current situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t ideal. However he believes he will take his fans’ positive energy into the ring.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve last boxed without any Latvians present to cheer for me,” he said. “I don’t know how it will feel; I will be able to tell only after the fight.

“But the Latvian public that’s been with me in Riga and other places will still travel with me to Germany inside of me and I’m sure I will also get the energy from people supporting me by a TV screen at their homes or wherever they will be watching the fight at.”

Briedis is excited to also be competing for additional hardware.

“The Ring Magazine is the very top of the food chain when it comes to boxing and Muhammad Ali Trophy speaks for itself,” he proudly explained. “It’s a very great honor for me as an athlete.

“None of these trophies are with me right now and I would very much love to see them with me at home.”

Kalle Sauerland, chief boxing officer of the WBSS, is happy to finally stage the cruiserweight final after a difficult few months but expects the wait to be worthwhile.

“It has the makings of another WBSS classic,” said Sauerland. “The best against the best of the division to see who the cruiserweight king is. That quest for the Muhammad Ali trophy, that always brings out something special as we’ve seen in the past. The ingredients are there; 1 against 2 has provided fireworks before and I would expect nothing different this time.”

Dorticos (24-1, 22 KOs) turned professional in 2009. The big-punching Cuban won his first 21 bouts; however his career lacked direction until he took part in Season One of the WBSS. The 34-year-old impressively took out fellow power-puncher Dmitry Kudryashov (TKO 2) and was upgraded to full WBA titleholder before losing a shootout to then-IBF titleholder Murat Gassiev (TKO 12) in a unification bout. He bounced back in Season Two of the WBSS with a win over Mateusz Masternak (UD 12) and won the vacant IBF title at the expense of Andrew Tabiti (KO 10).

The cruiserweight final of the World Boxing Super Series between Mairis Briedis and IBF titleholder Yuniel Dorticos will take place at the Plazamedia Broadcasting Center, a leading live sports production house in Munich, Germany, on Saturday.

The winner will be crowned The Ring Magazine champion and will also collect the prestigious Muhammad Ali Trophy.

Briedis, who is rated No. 1 by The Ring at 200 pounds, edged Noel Gevor (UD 12) and stopped Kryzysztof Glowacki (TKO 3) in a wild and controversial affair to reach the final. The 35-year-old Latvian is a former WBC beltholder but lost the title and his undefeated record to WBSS Season 1 winner Aleksandr Usyk (MD 12).

Dorticos, who is rated No. 2, by the Ring, labored in his win over Mateusz Masternak (UD 12) but was much more impressive knocking out the unbeaten American Andrew Tabiti (KO 10) to secure safe passage to the final. The 34-year-old Cuban lost at the semi-final stage in Season 1, when he was stopped by Murat Gassiev (TKO 12) in a barnburner.

Briedis (26-1, 19 knockouts) hasn’t found his best form since losing to Usyk and he’ll have to find it to see off Dorticos. Both are concussive hitters, but who will take the better punch? Can Dorticos (24-1, 22 KOs) keep the fight at range and prevent Briedis from making it rough on the inside? The fight had been scheduled for March and then May in Riga, which would have been a big advantage to Briedis, but that no longer applies. Who has dealt with the lay off and disruption better?

Online gambling group William Hill lists Briedis as an 8-15 (-188) favorite, while Dorticos is priced at 11-8 (+138); the draw is 18-1 (+1800).

Here’s how the experts see it:

    TOM GRAY: BRIEDIS UD
“I liked Briedis ahead of the original date in March and I still do. Briedis has superior ring craft and he’s never been stopped. Both guys are warriors, so I expect some great action, but I think Briedis will control the beginning, the middle and the end of the fight. Dorticos might struggle to last the full 12 and could suffer a knockdown or two during the championship rounds. The one caveat I have now is that the result could be dependent on how each fighter has dealt with the pandemic and subsequent inactivity.”

    ANSON WAINWRIGHT: DORTICOS TKO 10
“Briedis has made Riga something of a fortress over the past couple of years, and that [location] would have been a big advantage for him going into this fight. However, the playing field has now levelled up. Both hit hard, although Dorticos is probably the bigger one-punch knockout artist. He’s also the better athlete and his speed may cause Briedis some issues. Briedis has the better chin and I don’t think he’ll have a problem making this an all-out brawl. I think things may be close at the halfway point and go back and forth until ‘The KO Doctor’ breaks through and lands a barrage of shots that hurt the Latvian. Dorticos to will jump on him and force the referee to stop the fight.”

    LEE GROVES: DORTICOS UD
“When this fight was first scheduled, Briedis would have enjoyed an enormous home ring advantage in Riga, but now that the fight is being held on neutral ground in Munich that edge disappears. I believe that Dorticos will apply his five-inch reach advantage and box at long range; if he chooses to follow that blueprint for the entire fights, he can set up his bombs while minimizing his exposure to Briedis’. While Briedis’ power is a wild card, I think Dorticos will see it through.”

    RON BORGES: BRIEDIS PTS
“I’m sticking with my earlier prediction that Briedis outpoints Dorticos despite the fact Dorticos is the more dangerous puncher. Originally Briedis would have had the crowd on his side but in a locked down arena in Munich he won’t have that edge, but he’ll still have the advantage in boxing skills and enough power to make Dorticos hold back just enough to lose a close decision.”

    MARTY MULCAHEY: DORTICOS TKO
“With the defection of Aleksandr Usyk to heavyweight, this is the best possible matchup that can be made at cruiserweight. It will rightfully crown a Ring Magazine champion, and on paper it looks like a traditional puncher versus boxer match. Dorticos is the slugger while Briedis works angles and has a slight speed advantage. However, Dorticos matriculated through the vaunted Cuban amateur system, and that is why I give him the edge, and I believe the veteran will find a way to win over the Latvian who came to boxing late. Look for Briedis to start strong (despite not having a home country advantage as was the case when this fight was originally scheduled before COVID hit) but fade in every round after the fourth and become Dorticos’ 23rd stoppage victim in the championship rounds.”

    MICHAEL MONTERO: BRIEDIS UD
“It’s only a hunch, but I feel that Briedis has a little more left in the tank than Dorticos does. Briedis has defeated the better opposition as a pro and, in terms of x-factors, the Latvian has fought in Germany five times (5-0, 4 KOs), while Dorticos is yet to do so. I like Briedis by decision.”

    MICHAEL WOODS: BRIEDIS UD
“How you saw this one could change, couldn’t it, from BC to AC? Before COVID to “after” COVID, do I tend to find more favor in one or the other because of the length of time since they gloved up (June 2019)? Some eyes were open to the fact that the Latvian owns a real good arsenal when he was winning plenty of minutes during rounds with Aleksandr Usyk (January 2018). That was his sole loss, by the way. He is 35, turns 36 in January, but it’s not like I worry more because he’s fighting a young gun. Dorticos, age 34, turns 35 in March. Dorticos has more pop on paper, but anyone assessing this thing should ideally add an asterisk. You are, because of COVID protocol variations, less likely to know how training went, and if the time off between fights might lessen someone’s expected effectiveness on fight night. Breidis is an under-radar guy, but he’s fun to watch. Aggressive, has fun while he works, looks to destruct and destroy, and yet he can be countered, he squares up, sometimes gets “too” aggressive. Will be fun to see if Dorticos can time him, deliver a crackerjack right down the middle, while Breidis is about to start his own right hand. This had the makings of a good one when we entered the “virus interruptus” period of pugilism, and that still holds. I think. I had thought “BC” the Latvian could be able to defuse that Cuban power pack over the whole 12…and get a UD, close on points. I still hold to that.”

    NORM FRAUENHEIM: BRIEDIS UD
“Dorticos has scary power, summed up by his knockout percentage of 91 percent. But Briedis isn’t frightened by much of anything, mostly because of a versatile skillset that includes the resilient durability he’ll need against Dorticos. It promises to be an up-and-down fight. Might be controversial, too. In the end however, Briedis has the wherewithal to elude and withstand big shots in the early going. In the late moments, he’ll make the kind of adjustments that show up on the scorecard for a narrow decision.”

    Boxing Insiders:

DUKE MCKENZIE (FORMER THREE-DIVISION TITLEHOLDER/ TV ANALYST): BRIEDIS UD
“I like Briedis for this fight. I think both fighters are showing signs of wear and tear, but I just feel that Dorticos has more miles on the clock than his nemesis. In another hard-fought battle of attrition, Briedis wins a unanimous decision.”

    MARC RAMSAY (TRAINER): BRIEDIS UD
“Briedis impressed me a lot when he fought Usyk. I think he’s an underrated fighter. People think he’s not that good, but he is good, he’s very good. I’ve known Dorticos since he was an amateur. He fought [Eleider] Alvarez and Artur [Beterbiev], both of my fighters, and he was a really good amateur fighter. I think the speed of Briedis is going to be a problem for Dorticos. He has very good power, but he misses a little bit of speed to challenge a guy like Briedis. I think Briedis will win, probably a unanimous decision, but with a good puncher like Dorticos you have to be careful. One second and the fights over. It’s a good fight, every round will be close; it’s not a one-sided fight.”

KATHY DUVA (PROMOTER, MAIN EVENTS): BRIEDIS PTS
“I have always been a big fan of Mairis Briedis. We even had him under contract here at Main Events for a little while. One of my great regrets is that I was not able to convince the powers that be at HBO at the time to invest in the cruiserweight division because it was quite obvious to me that Mairis was destined to be a star. He is exciting and powerful. He has fought much, much better competition than Dorticos throughout his career. Briedis’ only loss was a razor-close decision to Usyk, who I believe is one of the top 10 fighters in the world at any weight. Dorticos has some boxing skill, but I think that Briedis has a lot more going for him in this fight. So, with the advantages of experience and punching power, I pick Briedis by decision. I’m sure it will be exciting, as just about all of Briedis’ fights tend to be a lot of fun.”

    VADIM KORNILOV (MANAGER): DORTICOS PTS
“I know Dorticos has exceptional boxing skills and power. Briedis probably has the better conditioning. I think Dorticos on points.”

    GARY LOCKETT (TRAINER): BRIEDIS PTS
“Both are warriors. It’s a very close one, but I can see the overall toughness and good all-round game of Briedis getting him the nod on the scorecards.”

    STEPHAN LAROUCHE (TRAINER): BRIEDIS PTS
“I have to go with Briedis. He has fought great opposition and knows how to win on points if needed. He has the better overall resume.”

    EDUARD KRAVTSOV (TRAINER): BRIEDIS KO
“Both have similar power, however, Briedis has a much better chin, hence he will win the exchanges. Briedis is much better at mid-range distance and has long combinations, which Dorticos is vulnerable against. Briedis wins by KO in eight or nine rounds.”

RODNEY BERMAN (PROMOTER, GOLDEN GLOVES): DORTICOS
“Too close to call. Both have almost identical records, both have good chins, both can punch. It will be very competitive. I favor Dorticos to win a points decision, only because in my opinion he has fought a better class of opponent.”

THABISO MCHUNU (CRUISERWEIGHT CONTENDER): BRIEDIS PTS
“I like Briedis, I think he is craftier. Dorticos is easier to hit. Briedis can steal rounds. Briedis on points.”

    PETER SMITH (TRAINER): DORTICOS PTS
“This is going to be an amazing fight. I think Dorticos will take charge in the later rounds. I’m going with Dorticos on points.”

TOM LOEFFLER (PROMOTER, 360 PROMOTIONS): BRIEDIS UD
“Great fight. I lean toward Briedis by unanimous decision.”

KEVIN LERENA (CRUISERWEIGHT CONTENDER): BRIEDIS PTS
“It’s a very good fight, a very hard fight to call. I’m going to stick my neck out and say Briedis on points.”

    MAX ALPEROVICH (MANAGER): DORTICOS KO
“All out slugfest. Dorticos is more powerful, wins by KO between six and eight rounds.”

    Final Tally: Briedis 14-7

About what home town advantage they are talking?
WBSS does not use hometown refs, judges and inspectors for WBSS tournaments fights, this is just some unskilled dreams. It is not possible to compare high rank fights where boxing orgs and tittles are involved with some small events.
WBSS did not had used german staff in germany or polish staff in poland or latvian staff in latvia or russian staff in russia to serve as refs, judges or supervisors for wbss tournament fights.
Integrity had been maintained and despite sometimes different orgs were not agree each with other, it happens because each from main boxing orgs wish their staff to be more used if boxer does have their belt on line. It is normal. Yelling about integrity in internet most likely comed out cos they then had WBC and WBO belts, each from these orgs does have approved refs and judges, especially if high level fights. Most likely did not agreed well, then crying in internet about integrity and props about hometown.
Only hometown advantage in WBSS is to sell tickets in backyards......

It is not normal to make people become delusioned due to casual experience in small or medium size events for not tittle fights, where only small, medium size event promoter and national pro boxing org approves and hire referee, judges and inspectors. In WBSS it does not happens.

It is worth to remember that in scanadalous WBSS fight ref had been approved in U.S and by boxing org, then sent to do job in WBSS event.
Including judges. Definitely does not matter in Vegas or Moscow, the same did their job also in these locations.

Well, I will not listen Kalle. Yeah, for WBSS RIX was better place to sell tickets than Moscow.
Now Kalle, I hope, newer will conduct WBSS events in Moscow or Riga, to not gave reason for empty clueless claims by PR ppl and media + commentators in internet about backyards and so on.
Funny how internet and media is delusional. Glowacki controversial effort after feeling helpless state in clinch was a rabbit punch. Damn, and internet is joke game. I really wish all who wrote how dirty Briedis is, get a rabbit punch from Glowacki and accented low blow from Dorticos that Tabiti had to get + attempts to choke Tabiti in clinch, rotate him, push and pull Tabiti by clean boxer Dorticos.

Regards to fight, I will better perfer to watch Burton vs Bolotniks. I think they might be more watchable, at least if I compare their last fights than Dorticos or Briedis.

Talent wise they are close but their talents are a bit different. I lean towards Briedis because he has demonstrated adjustability in the ring.

WoW, can't tell, if this Briedis in bad shape, Dorticos might get safe UD too and realtively easily.
If they both will be in good shape, 50/50 matchup unless Dorticos will get fight in clinch ......
Probably they both will attempt to finish because both if in good shape might be very dangerous till end of last round.

Good news, both weighted in in limit. Maybe they will move in the ring too.
