So that's just 2 guys, one of which is definitely full of ****: Holmes. Tyson KOd his arse, while Shavers didn't.
He has 11 KOs in 23 fights against 215 lbs boxers, meaning that his punches don't do much damage against big guys. No, I am basing it on the fact that you need more power against bigger men, which Shavers lacked.
Ask Larry Simms who got knocked faster than Tyson against Shavers. Just two? That's enough to state someone hit harder. Holmes is not full of **** he is realistic and was always realistic man. Tyson KOd 39 years old Holmes and needed accumulation of puncbes while past prime Shavers knocked prime Holmes with just one punch! Case closed!
Wait, you counted the fights he lost? You are literally the definition of "boxrec warrior". Did he loose those fights because he couldn´t punch as hard as boxing legends claimed him to, or maybe he just lost those fights? This is like saying that Manny isn´t a big puncher at 147 despite the fact that he has hurt everyone he fought at the weight and dropped most of them. Shavers was a crude boxer with a big, big punch. All you have is your handpicked statistic. Well I can play the same. Out of the 215lb guys Shavers beat, only 2 went the distance. Everyone else he KO´d. Wilder loads his entire bodyweight into his right hand. He goes all in. Shaver could hurt guys with arm punches: This content is protected There is no way someone can say definitely that Wilder punched harder.
Shavers got outboxed by Holmes Punching power and boxing skills are two different skills. You should like someones girlfriend who watches boxing and just goes: "Why doesn´t he just KO him?"
No, it isn't. It's just their words which don't mean ****. You need scientific measurements to say for sure. Holmes is full of ****. Tyson KOd his ass while Shavers couldn't. Therefore when Holmes says Shavers hits harder, he praises himself for surviving and beating Shavers. Tyson also knocked down Holmes with just 1 punch, he needed more punches to finish him, not to knock him down.
Again false and it is very well. It just their words? It is the words of people who faced somekne and talked about punching power and two champs said that! Their words are much more important other than what you think. And yes they bothsstated Shavers punched harder which is true. And about scientific messaurments:He scored 68 knockout wins with 46 of them in the first 3 rounds and 23 first round knockouts. He holds a 91.8% knockout-to-win ratio in era tougher than Tyson and more talented Hall of famers back then. Shavers hit harder and dealt with it. Lie.Tyson KOed older Holmes and old Shavers knocked the prime inr with just one punch unlike Tyson. If Holmes praises Shavers whom he beat why he didn't mentioned Cooney that?Your logic is bery poor according to what you said. Why he don't praises Cooney amd Snipes because he beat them both? Exactly he just talked true and he said Shavers lunched harder dealt with that! This shows how stupid you are after that Foreman was not past prime in his 40s but Tyson was at 24 years old.Your logic is stupid and you are without any boxing knoweldge. Tyson knocked Holmes 3 times with accumulation punches and needed 3 Kos to put him down and that was old Holmes while Shavers needed one punch against prime Holmes According to Cus and Rooney he could take Holmes only with combinations of punchers which he did. According to boxrec: Then, with one booming right hand, Tyson put Holmes into deep trouble. The right landed flush on the chin of Holmes, who dropped onto the seat of his trunks, in Tyson's corner. Holmes got to his feet by the count of 4 and grabbed the ropes as Cortez gave him the mandatory 8-count. Then Holmes shook his head several times to clear it and let go of the ropes as Tyson came forward. Tyson winged lefts and rights, trying to open up Holmes and land the finishing shot. A big right by Tyson sent Holmes lurching into the ropes and down again. This time Holmes was up at the count of 5. Tyson seemed intent on ending the fight, throwing and landing one punch after another, some of them causing Holmes's head to snap back. By now, ringsiders were shouting, "Stop the fight!" The fight went on. Holmes retreated, Tyson pursued. Another heavy right by Tyson dropped Holmes in his tracks. As soon as Holmes fell backward onto the canvas, Cortez waved an end to the bout.

This isn’t as simple as people think, fury beat wilder at range, but he is one of few that is taller and has a reach advantage over wilder so wilder couldn’t reach fury when he stepped back and put his arms out, boxing at range against wilder is dangerous especially when you are shorter than him and give him time, because when you give him time and space, he isn’t panicked and he is slowly but surely figuring out ways to land that right hand and with Holmes being shorter than him by 4 inches and probably having a reach disadvantage Wilder would not have trouble reaching him if he times his shot right and Holmes stuck his arms out a lot and that also is very dangerous to do against a taller fighter because he can reach over them arms and they are exposed to be hit with the longer arms over their stuck out shorter arms, Holmes had trouble with even Carl Williams who was only 1 inch taller than Holmes and Holmes struggled at range, people who I would easily pick over wilder are people like Frazier, Louis, Tyson, Lewis they would not give him the time or space to get the timing on his right hand, wilder needs time and space and Holmes would give that’s to him and Wilder may spot an opening, Holmes would have to try and stop him at some point, the longer you don’t ko wilder, the more chance he stands of KO’ing you We seen even in the fury 1 fight that if you give him time and space he can put you down, Fury boxed him from range in the first fight and he put it on him from range in the second fight, he didn’t give him the time and space in the second fight, he backed him up behind a stiff jab and kept it on him and broke his will and broke him down, Holmes is not that kind of fighter, he likes to box at range and get on the back foot a lot
Why do you assume Holmes was lying? He was not. And it is far more than those 2 guys. Off the top of my head, Holmes Cobb Norton Caldwell Ali Tillis Young & just about everyone, win or lose, who ever fought Shavers said he hit the hardest. It is also extremely basic that throwing with more force does not automatically equate to more effective power-or being a better boxer. In fact with Shavers limited chin, defense, endurance, lack of finishing prowess it is amazing he was as successful as he was, & in a Golden Age for HWs. Of course Tyson with more accuracy & much better & quicker combinations is likely to do better against Holmes. Though it is unfair to compare an older inactive Holmes with the absolutely prime versions Shavers fought.
Small HW but HOFamers not big bums with more losses than wins. Hofamers>>>>big bums. Small hw?Bugner,Young....were all 6ft 2/3 and were 215 pounds. And he faced more than 15 upponents heavier than 210. I didn't I just make mistake. Shavers knocked Holmes with one punch while Tyson needed combos to stop older Holmes. Only dumb here is you. By now, ringsiders were shouting, "Stop the fight!"
Not always. And this isn't about who is more skilled, but about endurance to taking punches. On average, a 215+ lbs boxer will be more resilient than a 190-200 lbs boxer. He faced 23 opponents that weighed 215 lbs or more, and he only managed to KO 11 of those. Yes, Tyson needed combos to stop him, but he put him on his ass with just 1 punch, just like Shavers. And unlike Shavers, Tyson didn't give it all he's got in that punch.
