This. I also don’t think Holyfield showed the consistency to go 49-0 in the 50’s. Also, Holyfield bulking up would be counterproductive in the 50’s, since he would need all the mobility, handspeed, and stamina he sacrificed in the 90’s for size against guys like Charles, Moore, or Walcott. I could also see Clarence Henry taking a decision off the 205-210 lb Holyfield.

Beating Marciano would be no guarantee of going 49-0 in his era.

Holy had problems w slick defensive fighters. Rocky beat a lot of them. Also think Harold Johnson would give him fits.

Again, Holyfield started in late 84 and lost his first fight in late 92. Thats 8 years. Rockys reign was 03/1947 to 09/1955. which is 8.5 years. No problem here, Holyfield would be 32 when he got to Moore. So no need for any Ruiz or Toney nonsense.
Holyfield fought less bouts in that time frame, which is no surprise considering him winning the title after only 11 bouts.
It should be no problem for him fighting the fellows Rocky fought for the first 30 fights.

He goes 49-0 with ease if he can have the steroids he took in the late 80s-90s.
Without them it's gonna be a bit tougher, but he can still do it cause he was far more skilled than Marciano.

Of course he could. But would he , probably not, because unlike most fighters of the era, Holyfield wouldn't have avoided Charles "Sonny" Liston.
A prime Liston would've been a very serious threat to him. Especially when considering how easily he could get pulled into a war.

That is the other thing of course.

No way would he have walked away unbeaten!

Jeez read the starting post! If Rocky had to fight Sonny we wouldn´t have to debate 49 - Os

I think he'd beat everyone of Rocky's opponents even without PEDs.

He wouldn't be outsized by Rocky's best opponents, but younger, stronger and faster.

He was 30 and 28-0 going into his first loss, that's not the same as going 49-0

I know what the post was about. But unlike the rumors of Marciano retiring early became of the threat of Liston, Holyfield would've welcomed the challenge. This is all hypothetical, but Holyfield, based on his history would gladly get in with Liston. This information is just as pertinent in my opinion.
    So breath in and relax.

Holyfield wasn't that consistent. He lost to Moorer, who wasn't better than Walcott, Charles or Moore. I'd pick Holyfield over all of them, but in scenario you created I can see him losing to one of them, or even to someone lesser like Layne.

Liston was 13-1 on 09/1955. So thats a pirme Liston for you?
A week later, Rocky beat Moore. Where do you got that rumors from? Sounds pretty absurd. to be honest.
