This is why Jones is one of the greatest and scariest fighters of all time Love him or hate him (most likely hate), you cannot deny his talent and work ethic. Yeah he took performance enhancers, but this thread is not about that. This thread is about, who in their prime, can beat a roided up, 6'4, muscular Jon Jones? I am not talking about the Jones who had two lackluster performances against Thiago Santos or Dominick Reyes. I am talking about the Jones who DESTROYED Machida, choked out Rampage, knocked out and nearly killed Daniel Cormier, submitting black belt Vitor Belfort after surviving a terrifying arm bar, the Jones who choked the life out of Lyoto Machida. In the LHW division, I think no one can stop him. Even at HW, I think the list is small. If you pick a HW fighter to beat Jones, that means Jones gets time to train and bulk up to heavyweight so they are both in the same weight class. I think Francis Ngannou has a punchers chance if he gets it done early, maybe Stipe Miocic, maybe prime Cain or JDS, maybe heavyweight DC but other than that I think Jones would obliterate anyone
That would be an epic fight. Fedor unbeaten for 10 years, one of the GOATS of HW, does well against tall monsters. I think it would be competitive
A large chunk of the legendary fighters Jones faced were undersized for the weight and past their primes.
As much as i despise Jones as a person, you can't just look at it with one eye, a few of the guys he beat such as Belfort, Chael, Machida all popped hot when USADA came in. Who knows how many of the others pre USADA he fought were also on it. Doubt Fedor would be anymore successful than Cormier was.
Fedor was only 33 when he was beat by an older Henderson, Fan boys with him being past it when they actually get beat by guys that are even older. Same as Tyson fans. Cormier would dump him.
Fedor was a world champion Sambo practitioner, he had a lot of miles as a fighter as it was. Its not always about the age. Also he practically fought in an era with no weight classes.
The same cro cop that was getting hammered in UFC in his low 30's even when he was on PEDS but apparently he was past it as well to the fan boys. Fighters have evolved with skills and natural talent compared to guys 10 years ago. getting beat isn't being washed up it's been over taken by something more dynamic.
Cro cop was a high caliber Amateur boxer and also a life long kickboxer, who transitioned to MMA later. He too had a lot of miles on the tank. Not to mention Cro Cop avenged his losses against Gonzaga and Nelson.
so just give another 5 years and your boy jones will have more L’s on his record , unless he runs away from “better” fighters that are coming up and when he will lose remember that’s not because he got old, just because younger fighters are better.
